EMINEM TOPS BILLBOARD ALBUM CHART

Eminem’s Recovery tops the Billboard album chart for the third straight week, selling over 229-thosuand copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.  The album is the first record to notch three consecutive weeks at number one
since Sade’s Soldier of Love held the summit for three frames back in March. Drake’s Thank Me Later spends a third week at number two, selling another 74-thosuand copies, bringing his four week sales total to over 782-thousand
copies. Big Boi’s debut solo album, Sir Lucious Left Foot… The Son of Chico Dusty, bows at number three while The Twilight Saga: Eclipse soundtrack slips one spot to number four, Justin Bieber’s My World 2.0 climbs one notch to number five, the Now 34 compilation falls to number six and Jack Johnson’s To The Sea rises one spot to number seven.  Lady Gaga’s The Fame leaps five spots to number eight, likely pushed by her Today Show appearance last week. Lady Antebellum’s Need You Now rises one spot to number nine and Enrique Iglesias debuts at number ten with Euphoria.  <JC>

JT’S “SEXYBACK” INVOLVED IN PORN LAWSUIT

According to Billboard, Warner Bros. and a number of other record labels filed a lawsuit last week alleging copyright infringement on the part of RK Netmedia, an adult entertainment company whose porn videos allegedly feature
actors lip-synching to hits like Justin Timberlake’s “SexyBack” while engaging in sexual acts on camera.  Damages claimed on the alleged nasty use of copyrighted music could run in the tens of millions of dollars. Videos
are allegedly named after songs, and actors are encouraged to lip-sync to the lyrics. Marc Randazza, the attorney for RK, says he plans to argue that the defendants’ use of music is “fair use” in this context.  The plaintiffs contend that the use of music was “deliberate and calculated.”  They are seeking maximum statutory penalties in the amount of 150-thousand dollars per claimed infringement.  The complaint lists hundreds of examples of alleged infringements. <JC>

RUSSELL BRAND’S BACHELOR PARTY WISH

MTV MUSIC NEWS

EMINEM ON TOP OF ITUNES CHART

Eminem tops both the iTunes singles chart as well as the album chart this week, with his new record Recovery.  His single, “Love the Way You Lie,” is the top song, displacing last week’s number one, “California Gurls,” from
Katy Perry featuring Snoop Dogg.  B.o.B’s “Airplanes” featuring Hayley Williams of Paramore falls to number three followed by “Billionaire” from Travie McCoy featuring Bruno Mars and Usher’s “OMG” featuring will.i.am.
Last week’s top album, Thank Me Later, from Drake slides to number two followed by Miley Cyrus’ Can’t Be Tamed, The Roots’ How I Got Over and To The Sea from Jack Johnson.  <JC>

Eminem’s ‘Recovery’ isn’t just his sixth straight No. 1 debut on the Billboard album chart — it’s the record-destroyer for 2010’s best first-week sales, moving 741,000 copies since its June 18 release.

The new disc pulled a better week than Eminem’s 2009 disc, ‘Relapse,’ and his 2005 greatest hits package. ‘Recovery’ also scored impressive digital digits with 255,000 downloads — second-best only to Coldplay’s ‘Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends’ in 2008. The CD couldn’t top 1 million copies in its first week, however, a feat Eminem achieved twice before, in the recording industry’s finer days.

Cru and later, N.W.A.

Detox, Dr. Dre’s third and final studio album, was indented to be released

artists. It is said that this album has been in the works since 2003.

Dr. Dre has won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance By A Dup or Group
twice, once for “Forgot About Dre” in 2001 featuring Eminem, and “Crack A
