“The Lorax” is coming to HOUSTON!


SIMON KIDGITS CLUB AND UNIVERSAL STUDIOS HOME ENTERTAINMENT CALL ON CREATIVE KIDS TO CELEBRATE

DR. SEUSS’ THE LORAX DVD RELEASE

Kids of all ages can embark on a Dr. Seuss-inspired journey during a special event

Come take a walk through the colorful, captivating world of Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax at Katy Mills, TX.

In celebration of the August 7 Blu-ray™/DVD release of The Lorax movie, Simon Kidgits Club® invites kids from the Katy area to visit the food court at Katy Mills on July 28, 2012 from 1:00 – 3:00pm for a celebration of non-stop family-focused festivities. Families are encouraged to get creative and enjoy an imaginative adventure by participating in the following Seussian-inspired activities, all taking place in a familiar Simon mall setting:

  • Create and take home intriguing Truffula Trees, just like those featured in the movie, and a Lorax mustache to commemorate the charming creature.
  • Interact with vibrant costumed characters from The Lorax during an entertaining meet-and-greet session, including The Lorax.
  • Visit a viewing area to watch The Lorax movie trailer, learn how to draw the Lorax through a bonus feature on the Blu-ray™/DVD, and hear about how the Lorax speaks for the trees.
  • Pose for a fascinating photo next to Lorax-themed standees, capturing the fun of the unique event.

Kids will also have the chance to participate in interactive offerings which are focused on preserving the environment and celebrating The Lorax’s meaningful plot. Young attendees can join the Pitch-In Recycle Game to learn about the benefits of recycling and get involved in the Seed of Hope activity to craft a Lorax planter. Before departing the event, all children will pledge to care for the environment and take home a certificate to honor their positive promise.

Disneynature’s “Chimpanzee” in theaters today! (video)


On April 20 (Earth Day), Disneynature will take moviegoers deep into the forests of Africa with CHIMPANZEE, a new True Life Adventure for the entire family that introduces an adorable baby chimp named Oscar and his entertaining approach to life in a remarkable real life story of family bonds and individual triumph.

In addition, Disneynature has teamed up with the Jane Goodall institute (led by world-renowned primatologist and UN Messenger of Peace Jane Goodall) to save chimpanzees and will contribute $.20 per ticket sold during the film’s opening week to the Jane Goodall Institute for the Disneynature Tchimpounga Nature Reserve Project.

Walt Disney Animation Studios and Emmy®-winning director Rich Moore (TV’s “The Simpsons,” “Futurama”) take moviegoers on a hilarious, arcade-game-hopping journey in “Wreck-It Ralph.” Ralph (voice of John C. ‘HUNGER HITS HOME’ A Special Presentation (video)


The documentary will premiere on Food Network on April 14th at 7 pm CST, presents and unfiltered examination of the hunger crisis plaguing our nation’s youth.

HUNGRY AT HOME goes on a cross-country odyssey from New York City to Washington, D.C., suburban Virginia and Texas’ prosperous Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, giving viewers a bird’s-eye view of the hunger crisis through the lives of three hardworking families struggling to make ends meet. In Norfolk, Virginia, an ex-military man with four children must take a civilian job for a fraction of his service pay. A single father in Allen, Texas, is on the verge of losing his home and unable to feed his 10-year-old son. A young couple in New York City lacks access to the fresh fruits and vegetables their children desperately need. All of them have discovered that no community is immune to childhood hunger.

And in the halls of the nation’s capitol, funding cuts threaten existing assistance programs even as the need for them increases. As politicians debate the need for 15 separate federal nutritional assistance programs, the problem continues to grow.

But HUNGRY AT HOME also offers hope for children in need. The film profiles some of America’s heroes in the continuing fight against childhood hunger, including a determined food pantry founder who makes the battle personal and an elementary school principal who refuses to let his students go hungry. It documents the work of government officials and not-for-profit leaders who will move mountains to mobilize necessary resources. With efforts large and small, these people are helping to fulfill Share Our Strength’s commitment to ending childhood hunger in America by 2015.

Each family profiled in HUNGRY AT HOME finds unique solutions to their unique problems, utilizing traditional methods including SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, better known as food stamps), as well as innovative ideas such as subsidized Community Supported Agriculture baskets for families without access to fresh foods, or in-classroom meals that ensure students get a balanced breakfast. But with problems this diverse, anti-hunger activists agree that there is no quick fix to the devastating effects of hunger on American children. They also agree that finding a solution is one of the most critical issues facing Americans today.

‘DISNEY STORE’ CELEBRATES OPENING OF NEWLY DESIGNED STORE IN HOUSTON, TX


Disney Store will celebrate the opening of the newly designed store at, Houston Galleria in Houston, Texas, on Wednesday, October 26, 2011. Houston is the fourth newly-designed Disney Store in Texas, and one of many new locations to open worldwide in 2011. The first 250 guests who attend the public celebration will receive FREE Mickey Mouse ears.

The new Disney Store offers a one-of-a-kind, interactive and magical experience for Disney fans of all ages. Disney Store’s new design concept aims to deliver “the best 30 minutes of a child’s day” through immersive experiences including a Disney Princess with Magic Mirror, Translucent Trees, and the Disney Store Theatre featuring the latest Disney entertainment.

With each new store opening in 2011, Disney Store will donate 10 percent of the first day’s sales to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in the United States.
