MICHAEL JACKSON’S IMMORTAL ALBUM COMING NEXT MONTH

The second posthumous Michael Jackson album is slated to hit stores on November 21st. But unlike last year’s Michael, which featured unreleased tracks from the late pop icon, Immortal will serve as the soundtrack to the just-launched Cirque du Soleil show of the same name. The album will feature reworked versions of some of Jackson’s most beloved hits, mash-ups and never-before-released outtakes of the late King of Pop’s tunes. The Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour kicked off in Montreal on Sunday and will hit 60 North American cities before wrapping in June in Chicago and taking up a residency at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.

RIHANNA DOESN’T WANT TO BE A ROLE MODEL

Rihanna graces the cover of the latest issue of British Vogue. Following the backlash from a local farmer for her upcoming video for “We Found Love,” the singer opened up to the magazine about dealing with people’s expectations. She said in videos she puts on an act and it is not really reflective of who she really is. Rihanna added that being a role model became more of a job than she wanted. She concluded that she just wants to make music.

· Rihanna on being a role model: “That’s not me. That’s a part I play. You know, like it’s a piece of art, with all these toys and textures to play with. See, people … they want me to be a role model just because of the life I lead. The things I say in my songs, they expect it of me, and (being a role model) became more of my job than I wanted it to be. But no, I just want to make music. That’s it.”

50 CENT LEAKS PLAYGROUND INTRODUCTION

We previously reported that 50 Cent will soon release his new book, Playground. To get people more excited about his latest literary effort, which is about overcoming bullying, the mogul released the introduction to the book. While it arrives in bookstores on November 1st, here’s how it begins:

“I’ll be the first to admit that not everything I’ve done in my life has been role-model material. I’ve been on the wrong side of the law. I’ve been in violent situations. I’ve also been a bully. I know how a person gets to be like that. That’s why I wanted to tell this story: to show a kid who has become a bully—how and why that happened, and whether or not he can move past it. Writing Playground was a personal journey for me. There’s a lot of me in Butterball. I drew on events that happened in my childhood and adolescence as well as things I saw around me. I also tapped into some of the feelings I remember having at that age—feelings about my family, feelings about my future, feelings about other kids on the playground. Living life on the edge has taught me a lot, like the fact that being mentally strong will get you ahead in life. But being a bully won’t get you anywhere. Some kids don’t figure that out until it’s too late. Does Butterball? You’ll have to read the book to find out.”

LETOYA LUCKETT BEGINS NEW ALBUM

Just when we started wondering where LeToya Luckett has been, the former Destiny’s Child singer told Essence.com about the status of her next album. The singer said of the project, “Of course it’s going to be R&B; I gotta stay true to my fans. But I want to try some different stuff.” Luckett added, “I’ve grown from the last album. So, I’m definitely gonna tell my story as I always do. But I’m going to try some different stuff: more live instruments, some soulful stuff, and more up-tempos on this album.” No word on when the follow-up to 2009’s Lady Love will drop.

· Outside of music, Toya is set to appear in an upcoming drama called From the Rough.

The 30-year-old singer hired renowned vocal coach Seth Riggs, who is being tasked with helping the star cut back on over-singing and her vocal aerobatic runs. Producer William Orbit is rumored to be working with Aguilera on her new effort and recently Timbaland tweeted Christina saying he “had something for her.”
