THE BLACK EYED PEAS RAISE A MILLION FOR FLOOD RELIEF

The Black Eyed Peas raised over 1.3-million dollars for the flood ravaged mid-west at the North Dakota State Fair last weekend. According to the Associated Press, the group drew nearly 16-thousand fans to the show, which featured an appearance from actor and North Dakota-native Josh Duhamel, who is married to BEP singer Fergie. Nearly one-fourth of the city’s residents were evacuated earlier this summer when the Souris River flooded the town.

 

LIL WAYNE ALMOST SELLS OVER A MILLION!

 

If you’re a little confused about the real first week sales of Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV, you’re not alone. There were varying reports that the rapper’s fourth installment in Tha Carter series sold over a million copies, however the disc actually only amassed sales over 965-thousand units. According to Billboard.com, the LP took the number one spot on the Billboard 200 chart and attracted over 362k in digital copies and over 603k in physical copies. Not bad for an artist who recently spent nearly a year in prison and has done limited televised performances to promote the album.

BIRDMAN READIES BIGGA THAN LIFE

Birdman revealed the launch date for his fifth studio album, Bigger Than Life. He warns fans on Twitter that his new project will hit stores on November 22nd with the lead single, “Why You Mad,” which features Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne.

· In related news, Baby denied rumors that Cash Money bought additional albums to trump Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV sales.

BEYONCE’S 4 BACK IN THE TOP TEN

Following her performance at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, Beyonce’s 4 has jumped back into the top ten on the Billboard 200 chart. The singer’s fourth studio effort claimed the number seven slot and sold an additional 39-thousand copies, bringing her grand total to over 739k. Elsewhere, Jay-Z and Kanye West’s Watch The Throne dropped two spots to number four and earned 80k over the course of seven days. Their joint effort has now sold over 787-thousnad units to date.

· Last week’s number one opener, Game’s R.E.D. Album, takes the number ten spot with over 136k sold.

MOBB DEEP EXCITED ABOUT NEW SONY DEAL

During an interview with MTV News, Mobb Deep revealed details about their new deal with Sony/RED. Prodigy explained, “The way we structured it is as a distribution deal basically, so we run our own label, Infamous, and we gotta do the daily ins and outs of everything. We gotta handle all the record company business and they get it in the stores for us.” Havoc added, “It’s been a long time coming. We’ve been in the game for a minute and the object of the game is to control your own business.” We’ll keep you posted on when to expect their new album.

RIHANNA NAMED “SEXIEST WOMAN ALIVE”

According to Esquire magazine, Rihanna has taken the top spot on their annual Sexiest Women Alive list. The Pop Princess beat out last year’s winner, actress Minka Kelly. In related news, Ri Ri tweeted that she’s not going to re-release Loud and is instead working on a new project, which she says fans her “deserve.”

SOULAJ BOY WON’T PUT CONTROVESRIAL SONG ON LP

Following the backlash he received from dissing the military in a song called “Let’s Be Real,” Soulja Boy has decided not to include the record on his next album. The rapper’s rep told TMZ they are trying to remove the record off the Internet and it will never be available to purchase via online retailers. The news comes just a day after SB issued his apologies for offending the troops.

RUFF RYDERS TO RELEASE COMPILATION ALBUM

Whoa. We’ve just learned there will be a Ruff Ryders compilation album coming out soon. According to HipHopDX.com, the label is looking to release the project on October 18th. The news comes on the heels of DMX recently being released from prison for probation violation.

MARY J BLIGE SAYS GO SEE THE HELP

The number one film that moviegoers flocked to see this weekend was The Help. The movie-adaptation of the New York Times best-selling novel earned an additional 14.2-million dollars at the box office, bringing its total sales to over 118-million. This marks the flick’s third time to take the number one spot and it has become the only 2011 summer film to do so.

THE DREAM SPILLS ON ALBUM DETAILS

Do you remember a song called “Nikki” off The Dream’s Lovehate LP? If you do, then you’ll be happy to know that the singer is looking to make an album dedicated to his elusive ex-girlfriend. The hitmaker tweeted, “The ideas of Nikki and her sinister mentality that she has coupled with my admiration of her. This Will be EPIC!” He added, “Nikki will be at least 13 songs long. Every song will go into the next with Raw certain conversations from 2002-2004 between us both.” The project, Nikki: The Chronicles, will not be another free LP but will likely arrive before he drops his fourth album, The Love, IV: Diary of a Madman. Look for the studio effort to arrive on Def Jam later this year.

WALE READIES FALL AMBITION TOUR

According to his official website, Wale has unleashed the dates for his upcoming Ambition tour. The 32-city outing begins on October 2nd in Minneapolis and travels to Chicago, Dallas, New York, Boston, New Orleans and Los Angeles, before wrapping December 8th in Atlanta. In related news, his debut album, Ambition, is due out on November 1st.

ENRIQUE IGLESIAS COVERS LIL WAYNE EN ESPAÑOL

Enrique Iglesias has covered Lil Wayne’s “How To Love” in Spanish. The new version, titled “Como Amar,” got Weezy’s approval. Wayne and Iglesias first collaborated in 2007 on the song “Push” and got together again last year for Enrique’s “Dirty Dancer.” Lil Wayne performed “How To Love” at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards.

DAVID GUETTA TALKS USHER COLLABORATION

David Guetta recently told MTV News that his single “Without You,” featuring Usher is the “biggest record” on his new album, Nothing but the Beat. The French DJ and producer said the song starts as a ballad and then goes into a “crazy dance beat”. He also described the tune as “totally emotional.” Usher and Guetta already shot the video for “Without You” in Ibiza, Spain. Nothing But The Beat is in stores now.

· Guetta’s Nothing But The Beat album also features Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, will.i.am, Akon, Timbaland, Nicki Minaj, Jessie J and Jennifer Hudson.
