BRUNO MARS TALKS VMA NODS

Bruno Mars’ “Grenade” clip is up for three Moon-men at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, including Best Male Video and the coveted Video of the Year. While the crooner is excited for the nods, it was his fourth nomination that really got him going. Mars was thrilled to get a Best Choreography nomination for “The Lazy Song.” He told MTV News that he put a lot of “blood, sweat and tears into ‘Grenade’” but is amazed by the Best Choreography nomination. Watch the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards air live on Sunday, August 28th at 9 PM Eastern.

DMX SPEAKS ON BIPOLAR DISORDER, DRUG ADDICTION

During an interview with Arizona’s ABC 15, DMX openly admitted that he’s struggling with bipolar disorder and drug addiction. The rapper, who was released from prison two weeks ago, explained, “I’m not the person the media portrays me to be.” He adds, “X is the bad guy. That’s not who I am. I’m not the person the media portrays me to be.” To help his sobriety, he shared, “Every day. I start my day off with a prayer, as God to guide my steps.” As previously reported, the troubled emcee has been working non-stop on his upcoming album, Redemption of the Beast, which is expected to drop later this year.

NICKI MINAJ JOINS CAST OF ICE AGE 4

According to Variety, Nicki Minaj has reportedly joined the cast of Ice Age: Continental Drift. For the animated 3-D flick, the fem-cee joins her fellow Young Money rapper Drake, as well as Jennifer Lopez, Queen Latifah, Aziz Ansari, Wanda Sykes, and Keke Palmer among others. Fans can expect the fourth installment in the Ice Age series to hit the big screen on July 13, 2012.

DRAKE IS FLATTERED BY “MARVIN’S ROOM” REMIXES

According to Billboard.com, Drake has finally spoken up about the numerous revamped versions of his free song, “Marvin’s Room.” During the OVO Fest last weekend, the Toronto native spilled, “The writing is doing something to people for them to want to take it and remix it. It’s very flattering, you know. Thank you to anybody that did a remix.” Drake then said, “I hope other songs on the album get reactions like that too. I really, really worked very hard on the writing for this album so I hope it gets a great reaction. I’m excited. It comes out on my birthday so it’d be a nice birthday gift if you go buy it for the boy.” The song was remixed by Teyana Taylor, Chris Brown, JoJo, Sammie and others.

KANYE, NICKI TO STAR ON CLEVELAND SHOW

Rap-Up.com reports Kanye West and Nicki Minaj have agreed to lend their voices on an upcoming airing of The Cleveland Show. In addition, viewers can expect the episode to be based around the “rap Illuminati, the secret group that controls pop culture.” While the exact air date has yet to be revealed, but the new season of The Cleveland Show begins on September 25th on Fox.

· Will.i.am, Bruno Mars, and The Roots’ drummer ?uestlove will all be on the show as well.

JUSTIN BIEBER TOPS SOCIAL 50 CHART

Justin Bieber tops Billboard’s Social 50 chart for the third straight week. Rihanna, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Shaker, Akon, Eminem, Pitbull, Michael Jackson and Selena Gomez round out the top ten. Pitbull has raced up the chart and leaped 21 spots over two weeks to his career high at number eight, thanks to his new single “Rain Over Me,” which features Marc Anthony.

WINEHOUSE RUMORS ARE FLYING

Another day, another rumor about Amy Winehouse. Well this time there are actually two. First, according to British paper The Sun, Amy’s dad Mitch wants to turn her North London home into the headquarters for the Amy Winehouse Foundation, a charity that he hopes to soon set up. Also, the Daily Star reports that a “Hollywood insider” said that Lady Gaga wants to portray Winehouse “on the big screen” if they were to ever make a movie about her life. Apparently it’s the “only role for her.”

· Gaga said on The View that she was “unable to speak” for two days after learning of Amy’s passing.
