BEYONCE GOES GOLD WITH 4

Beyonce is in a league of her own. After four weeks on the chart, her latest album, 4, has achieved gold status. The disc claims the number four spot on the Billboard 200 chart and has sold over 550-thousnad copies so far. She recently told Reuters that her project “was a labor of love. THE ROOTS WORKING ON THEIR 13TH ALBUM

Questlove announced on his Twitter page that The Roots have already begun working on a new studio album titled Undone. The follow-up to last year’s Wake Up! marks the legendary band’s thirteenth effort. Head over to the drummer’s account to watch a live studio session of the band at work.

· Wake Up! Was a joint project with John Legend. The LP debuted at number eight on the Billboard 200 chart and sold 63-thousand copies in its first week.

JEEZY’S SINGLE FEATURES JAY-Z, DRAKE, ANDRE 3000

According to a press release issued by Def Jam, Young Jeezy’s upcoming album, Thug Motivation 103, will include two versions of a song called “I Do.” On one side, Jay-Z and Drake contribute guest vocals while Andre 3000 is featured on the other version. In addition, the first official single off TM103 is “Shake Life,” which will be released on Monday. Be sure to look out for the rapper’s long-awaited project when it lands on September 20th.

KELLY ROWLAND EXCITED FOR CHRIS BROWN TOUR

While promoting her latest album, Here I Am, Kelly Rowland couldn’t believe that we knew about her upcoming tour with Chris Brown. Before she could tell us about the outing, we revealed that Breezy beat her to it and tweeted about the trek. Details surrounding the tour are yet to be released, but Brown wrote, “Me and Kelly Rowland along with other incredible artists are going on tour!!!! I’ll let u know who else is on later! Lol.”

DJ KHALED LANDS IN TOP FIVE ON BILLBOARD 200

DJ Khaled is probably out celebrating the solid debut of his latest album, We The Best Forever. Led by his smash single, “I’m On One,” the disc opened at the number five spot on the Billboard 200 chart and sold over 53-thousand units in seven days. The project includes guest spots from Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy, Rick Ross, Drake and B.o.B.

· This is Khaled’s first major label debut via Cash Money/Universal Motown Records.

NAS GIVES BACK TO UNICEF ORGANIZATION

AllHipHop.com reports Nas is taking part in the “Month of Giving” along with other artists to help support children in Africa. He joins late Beatles member George Harrison and wife Olivia Harrison to give back to the UNICEF organization.

· UNICEF is immediately releasing one-million dollars for the relief effort to benefit more than two-million children who are malnourished and are at risk from death.

· 50 Cent recently tweeted that he wants to feed one-billion people in Africa.

Tyler, The Creator’s debut album, Goblin, is nearing to the 100-thousand copies sold mark. The Odd Future leader has managed to sell over 94-thousand units since releasing his first studio effort back in May. SNOOP REMEMBERS WHEN HE FIRST GOT HIGH

During an interview with Esquire.com, Snoop Dogg recalls the first time he ever smoked weed. The infamous smoker stated, “I got high off marijuana was in the seventies, with one of my uncles.” After one of his uncles offered to smoke a marijuana cigarette, he stated, “‘Yeah.’ He put it on the roach clip for me and lit it up, and I hit that motherf**ker. We’ve just learned Tupac’s Greatest Hits album has officially reached Diamond status on the Billboard charts. The two-disc collection, which was released back in 1998, has reportedly sold over ten-million copies. This marks the late rapper’s first and only album to achieve this feat.

She initially tried to sell her residence for 2.2-million. In related news, the rapper is reportedly in the studio working on her first album since 2002’s Eve-Olution.

BRANDY AND RAY J DROP FAMILY ALBUM

Amy Winehouse’s 2006 album Back To Black sold over 37-thousand copies this week and 36-thousand of them were digital downloads. Her debut album, Frank, sold over 76-hundred copies and over seven-thousand were digital downloads. Over 95 percent of all Winehouse’s album sold in the wake of her death were downloaded digitally, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

PITBULL MAKES PEOPLE’S “SONGS OF SUMMER” LIST

Pitbull’s summer smasher “Give Me Everything” featuring Ne-Yo, Afrojack and Nayer, is featured on People magazine’s annual “Songs of Summer” list. The song peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and has sold over two-million copies. See the full story in the August 8th issue of People.
