DMX’S CHARGES WERE “EXAGGERATED”

Slowly but surely, we’re getting new details on what led to DMX being caught with drugs inside Arizona’s Yuma Prison. Sources revealed to RumorFix.com that X did not smuggle drugs while behind bars, but there were drugs found in his system. Due to this, DMX will be held a little longer, up to 30 days, after he violated several rules including failing or refusing a drug test and disorderly conduct.

· Arizona Department of Corrections’ spokesman Barrett Marson stated, “He did not smuggle drugs into prison. He failed a drug test, I don’t know what drugs he took, but that’s it. He was due to be released today but will now be released on July 19th.”

T-PAIN SIGNS TO YOUNG MONEY?

Have you heard whispers that T-Pain has joined Lil Wayne’s Young Money roster? Well, VLad TV caught up with Akon, who confirmed that Teddy is no longer signed to his Konvict Muzik label. Akon stated, “That’s Pain’s business decision. He’s his own man, he’s his own entrepreneur and decisions from this point, he has to make on his own. I’m happy for him. Whichever way he goes, that’s my little brother, he gets the support from us.” In related news, Pain’s long-awaited rEVOLVEr album will be the last disc that he’s obligated to release on Konvict Muzik.

ICE CUBE TALKS BOYZ IN THE HOOD 20TH ANNIVERSARY

MTV News caught up with Ice Cube to get his reactions on the recent 20th anniversary of John Singleton’s classic film, Boyz N The Hood. The rap vet told MTV, “The movie holds up. The movie had been used as a tool to teach people about the ‘hood that they may not know about. I think the movie is a definite classic, it definitely holds up, it’s definitely as potent today as it was back then. The message is definitely as clear today and needed as it was back then.”

UPDATE ON WATCH THE THRONE RELEASE DATE

Ok, this is getting confusing. Fans are desperately wanting to know when Kanye West and Jay-Z’s Watch The Throne will arrive in stores and online. While numerous dates have surfaced, the Live Nation music store still has the launch date listed as August 2nd with copies being shipped on July 29th.

· The standard version will have ten tracks while the deluxe holds 14 songs.

KELLY ROWLAND RECLAIMS NUMBER ONE SPOT

Things couldn’t be going better for Kelly Rowland. The singer’s hit single, “Motivation,” has reclaimed the number one spot on the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop chart and is seated at the 19 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. Songwriter. The song if lifted from Rowland’s upcoming album, Here I Am, which arrives on July 26th.

· The song has remained on the chart for 17 weeks.

J COLE TALKS ABOUT NEW MIXTAPE

J Cole can’t stop talking about his much-hyped mixtape, which will drop before his debut album, Cole World: The Sideline Story. He told HardKnock TV, “I got so many songs. I went through a period where I was trying to make a lot of singles for the album. Not a long of singles, but I was trying to find a single, so I came up with some real good ass songs.” The Roc Nation star says the mixtape should be released by end of this month or in early August. As previously reported, the rapper’s debut is slated for a September 27th release.

· The first single off his first studio project is “Work Out.”

GUCCI TALKS POST-PRISON PLANS 

Wanna know what Gucci Mane did in the first few days since he was released from prison? Aside from celebrating at a strip club in Atlanta, La Flare got right back to work. The rapper, who violated his probation, told HipHopDX.com that he “went back to the studio, banged out about five records.” He added, “I got some great writing done, I got some new hits that people need to wait on.” In related news, his joint album with Waka Flocka Flame, Ferrari Boyz, drops on August 9th.

NICKI MINAJ STRUCK WITH SUITCASE?

 

So it looks like there may have been some truth to Nicki Minaj being slapped in the face by an unidentified man in Dallas. Even though the fem-cee denied the incident via her Twitter account, TMZ reports she was hit with a suitcase by her assistant. According to the police report, the duo got into an argument, which led to the man “shoving the suitcase across [Nicki’s] chin and lower lip.” Visit TMZ to learn more.

NBA STAR TO CO-PRODUCE TUPAC BIOPIC

According to XXLMag.com, NBA star Elton Brand is reportedly co-producing the official biopic for the later Tupac Shakur. And yes, the Philadelphia 76ers player has pervious film experience since he actually co-founded a production company. The news comes as Antoine Fuqua announced that he will be directing the project, aptly titled Tupac. No further details are known at this time.

· There were rumors that Soulja Boy was being considered to take the lead role in the movie.

T.I. PENS OPEN LETTER TO FANS

It’s only a matter of a couple of months until T.I. completes his prison sentence. The rapper, who violated the terms of his probation, penned an open letter to fans reminding them that he’ll be home in September. Here’s the letter in its entirety:

“What up world? I appreciate the continued love and support that everyone has been giving me. This chapter in my story will soon be coming to an end and I will be back in the flesh with you sooner than later. In the meantime I want to give a special shout out to a few particular individuals that have been sending me letters, cards, comments, tweets and just overall holding me down. A little loyalty goes a long way with me…I don’t do fake shit shawty. So I can’t thank y’all enough for keeping it 1 thousand and as soon as I’m able I WILL RETURN THE FAVOR!!! And that’s on PHIL!!! I love y’all and I’ll see you in September.”

While there’s still nearly a month and a half until Tha Carter IV arrives, a tracklist for Lil Wayne’s upcoming disc has surfaced online. According to LilWayneHQ.com, the project will include guest spots from Cory Gunz, Cee-Lo Green, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Tech N9ne, Busta Rhymes, John Legend, will.i.am, Nas, Shyne and Jadakiss, as well as features from Rick Ross and Lil Twist on the deluxe version. Be sure to grab the disc on August 29th.
