JENNIFER LOPEZ WORKS WITH LADY GAGA AND REDONE

Jennifer Lopez got a hand from Lady Gaga and RedOne on her latest album, Love?. RedOne is known for his work with Gaga, having produced her hit singles “Just Dance,” “Bad Romance” and “Judas,” among many others. We caught up with Lopez, who told us just why she was excited to work with the producer.

“I think RedOne’s sound is very specific, but he also can be very individual for each artist he works with, which I like, but there’s still kind of a commonality in it. But it’s him, it’s him – the way he makes a record sound so big and important, I love. I love feeling music like that. As a dancer, it gets me excited.”

RedOne produced four of the songs on J. Lo’s Love? album including one written by Gaga called “Hypnotico.” Gaga also worked with RedOne on the production of “Invading My Mind.” Love? is out now in stores and online.

· RedOne’s resume of number-one singles includes Lady Gaga smashers “Just Dance” featuring Colby O’Donis, “Poker Face,” “LoveGame,” “Bad Romance,” “Alejandro” and “Judas”; Enrique Iglasias’ “I Like It”; Nicole Scherzinger’s “Poison”; Porcelain Black’s “This is what Rock N’ Roll Looks Like”; Jennifer Lopez’s “On The Floor”; and Pitbull’s “Rain Over Me” featuring Marc Anthony.

· RedOne has won three GRAMMY Awards for his work with Lady Gaga: Best Dance Recording for “Poker Face,” Best Pop Vocal Album for The Fame Monster and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for “Bad Romance.”

LUPE FIASCO ON SKYLAR GREY

Lupe Fiasco’s hooked up with Skylar Grey for his Lasers album. The two worked with Alex Da Kid on “Words I Never Said.” The rapper is spilling the secrets behind his collaboration with Grey.

“Oh that was good… that was a record that Alex Da Kid brought and I guess he was working with Skylar for the course of a ton of records that he did, like the record he did with Puffy and some other stuff. And so that was one of the records and it was just instantly like ‘oh yeah, let’s rock.’ I remember the label wanted to take her off the record, like let’s put somebody more famous, or more…whatever on the record, and I was like ‘no, leave her.’”

Lupe also explained how he reworked the song’s concept to include some of the controversial issues.

“She wrote it. There’s a certain energy that comes across when people write the stuff that they actually sing. And I pick up on that, so I was like ‘keep her on it – let’s do that.’ She was expecting it to be like a love song. It was really like ‘the words I never said to your boyfriend,’ or what have you. But I was like ‘no – let’s go Rage Against the Machine on this. Let’s take some shots and be politically incorrect as we possibly can.’”

AND…

SKYLAR GREY ROUGHS IT

That’s why the singer-songwriter left the city in favor of a cabin in the woods of Oregon, where she says she was able to get perspective and stay grounded. Invincible is scheduled for release sometime this fall.

· Grey just dropped the music video for her debut single, “Dance Without You.”

· Grey will perform in San Diego, San Francisco and Pamona, California before she takes the stage at Lollapalooza, which takes place August 5th through 7th in Chicago.
