LIL WAYNE, DRAKE TO PERFORM AT BET AWARDS 

According to reports, Lil Wayne and Drake are expected to perform at the 2011 BET Awards. It’s unknown what the pair will showcase, but they join previously confirmed performers Chris Brown and Alicia Keys. Be sure to tune in on June 26th at 8 PM Eastern when the ceremony airs live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

We recently reported that Drake announced the release date for his highly anticipated album, Take Care. Fans should note that the rapper’s sophomore effort’s release actually coincides with his birth date, October 24th. The rapper will be turning 25 this year – his mom must be proud!

JENNIFER HUDSON HOSPITALIZED

Over the weekend, Jennifer Hudson recovered inside a New York hospital after suffering from food poisoning before a scheduled performance on Good Morning America. Her rep revealed that the singer was “unable to perform” and was treated for “severe abdominal pains.” She has since been released. Meanwhile, Hudson has a memoir about her significant weight loss coming out in January.

MARSHA PROMOTES SAFE SEX IN NEW VIDEO

In Marsha Ambrosius’ new music video for “Late Nights & Early Mornings,” the singer has an important message about the potential dangers of not practicing safe sex. You can check out the J. Erving-directed clip on YouTube now.

FANTASIA LANDS NEW MOVIE ROLE

According to Vibe.com, Fantasia is scheduled to star in a biopic about gospel artist Mahalia Jackson. While it’s unknown when the film will hit theaters, the flick is based on Jules Schwerin’s 1993 book Got To Tell It: Mahalia Jackson, Queen of Gospel. We’ll keep you posted with further updates.

RUMOR CONTROL! JA RULE IS NOT BROKE

According to TMZ, Ja Rule’s wife, Aisha, is clearing up any misinformation regarding the rapper’s financial situation. His lady explained that before he began his prison sentence, “he did leave us well off. All of the rumors about Ja being broke are far from true.” She added that her children are secure “as far as income goes. He planned well before he went in.” Ja will spend the next two years inside a New York prison for being convicted of weapons possession.

FRANK OCEAN CONTRIBUTES TO WATCH THE THRONE?

Need another reason to be excited about new material from Jay-Z and Kanye West? Well, according to Frank Ocean’s Tumblr account, the Odd Future member revealed he flew out to the East Coast to work with the rap veterans. While he didn’t want to “spill too much,” the singer could potentially appear on their joint offering, Watch The Throne.

JUELZ SANTANA TO BE ON MTV’S RAPFIX

This Wednesday, Juelz Sanatana is scheduled to appear on MTV’s RapFix Live. The Diplomats member will fill Sway Calloway in on all that the Dipset crew is currently working on as well as the status of his new album, Born to Lose, Built to Win. GAME RECORDS WITH LUPE FIASCO FOR R.E.D. ALBUM

According to Rap-Up.com, Game has revealed that Lupe Fiasco will make a guest appearance on the rapper’s long-awaited R.E.D. Album. The West Coast emcee decided to enlist Lupe, who actually skateboards, on a record called “Skate On.” Game explained, “You know when some bulls**t’s about to jump off and somebody’s like, ‘Yo, I think we better skate?’ It’s kinda like that. Lupe kicks this 20-bar verse that’s like crazy.”

· The project will also include features from Lil Wayne, Nelly Furtado and Tyler, The Creator.

BEP SAD ABOUT CANCELING CONCERT 4 NYC

As we previously reported, the Black Eyed Peas’ star-studded Central Park concert was canceled due to severe thunderstorms. The show was all set to go at Central Park’s Great Lawn, before organizers pulled the plug on the Concert 4 NYC. MTV News is reporting that no new date for the benefit concert has been scheduled. The concert was set to feature loads of guests including Taylor Swift, Natasha Bedingfield, LL Cool J and many more. Will.i.am, Taboo and Taylor Swift all took to Twitter to apologize for the canceled show.

· The Robin Hood Foundation released the following statement: “The heat wasn’t going to stop them, the rain wasn’t going to stop them, but the lightning — it stopped them. It came down to safety for everyone. Organizers are hoping to reschedule, so ticket buyers should hold onto their tickets. Robinhood.org will have information in the next week or so.”

· Taboo wrote “Fergie is really sorry it’s not happening we feel horrible. We are devastated and Fergie told me to tweet this she loves u all … I hope that the concert will be rescheduled ASAP, our pea-ple deserve it, my pea-ple from chase and robinhood deserve this NYC we love u.”

LADY GAGA IS THE HIGHEST PAID STAR UNDER 30

Lady Gaga is the highest paid young star under the age of 30. According to Reuters, the 25-year-old took home 90-million dollars in 2010, putting her well ahead of the second place finisher, Justin Beiber, who made 53-million. Other notable names on the list include Taylor Swift and Katy Perry, who finished fifth and sixth, making 45 and 44-million bucks, respectively.

· 2009’s number one was Beyonce, who slipped to the eight spot in 2010.
