NICKI MINAJ WANTS TO BE AN ACTRESS

What’s next for Nicki Minaj? During the red carpet for the MTV Movie Awards, the Young Money standout told Entertainment Weekly that she “went to school to be an actress” and “never expected to be a rapper.” Nicki added that she wants “to get an acting gig. I hope that when I am done with the tour I can go back and do some acting. That is my long-term goal.” The Queens native hopes to eventually star opposite Will Smith and work with director Tim Burton. In the meantime, she’s gearing up for Britney Spears’ Femme Fatale outing, which begins on June 16th in Sacramento, California.

BEYONCE’S 4 LEAKS EARLY

According to MTV News, Beyonce’s highly anticipated album, 4, recently leaked online. The singer’s fourth studio project surfaced in its entirety before it was scheduled to arrive on June 28th. Even though most links were removed by her label, lucky fans were able to check out the 12-track disc, including the Boyz II Men-sampled track called “Countdown,” three weeks before everyone else!

· Her lawyers reportedly sent over cease-and-desist letters to any websites that posted the links for her album.

AND BEYONCE RESPONDS TO ALBUM LEAK

Wednesday was a pretty eventful day for Beyonce. After her upcoming album, 4, leaked online, the singer issued a statement via her Facebook page about the matter. The diva wrote, “My music was leaked and while this is not how I wanted to present my new songs, I appreciate the positive response from my fans. When I record music I always think about my fans singing every note and dancing to every beat. I make music to make people happy and I appreciate that everyone has been so anxious to hear my new songs.” The disc arrives on June 28th.

· Interestingly enough, Beyonce and Jay-Z are currently tied at fifth place for the most GRAMMY Award nominations in history. Both have received 42 nods each.

CHRIS BROWN TO PERFORM AT BET AWARDS

According to reports, Chris Brown is scheduled to perform during the 2011 BET Awards. If it’s true, the singer, who has received six nominations, will join other confirmed performers Alicia Keys and Jill Scott. Viewers can also anticipate Patti LaBelle to be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. The Kevin Hart-hosted event airs live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on June 26th at 8 PM Eastern.

· Brown previously took stage during last year’s ceremony and paid tribute to Michael Jackson.

· In addition, Steve Harvey will receive the Humanitarian Award.

LAURYN HILL TALKS PREGNANCY IN OPEN LETTER

 

We recently reported Lauryn Hill announced during a concert in Detroit that she is pregnant, and now she’s written an open letter to fans about it. Here’s what the singer wrote: “Coming back home after several months of extensive reconnecting with supporters and music lovers. We thank you for your continued appreciation. The majority of these dates were planned in advance of me knowing about the continued growth of my family (wink, wink). There were some shows that we started late. We apologize and thank you for your patience. That said, I can’t wait to re-engage with you, and give you a musical experience worth coming back for. Let’s do it real soon.”

· The letter comes a day after her alleged husband, Rohan Marley, claimed on Twitter that he did not father her sixth child.

THE DREAM LEAKS NEW 10-MINUTE SINGLE

As promised, The Dream has released the first offering from his upcoming album, Love IV: Diary of a Madman. The hitmaker combined two baby-making singles into one. Fans can check out “Body Work” and “F**k My Brains Out!” via Rap-Up.com right now. As previously reported, the crooner’s disc shares the same release date as Mary J Blige’s My Life II, The Journey Continues. Be sure to get both albums when they land on September 20th.

· Dream said of the songs, “My records are intended for sensual, sexual and intelligent people. Lovers and lost lovers alike. I don’t want any new fans!”

DAY26 STARTS NEW ALBUM

Just when you thought Day26 were done recording, the former MTV reality stars have announced that fans can expect them to release a new album titled, A New Day. The forthcoming third effort from the band, who are now signed to Atlantic Records, will be released later this year.

· Willie Taylor told SingersRoom.com, “We have way more creative control but at the end of the day I am not really mad at the previous projects. The first album with Day26 which was a great album, I feel like that was handpicked by Diddy. It could have been anybody who made the band to make that album.”

HIP HOP TWEET OF THE DAY: LLOYD BANKS

Even though it’s not officially summertime until June 21st, the temperature is certainly getting crazy. Here’s what Lloyd Banks recently tweeted, “Turned down two early birds so far, too hot for sex, f*ck that.”

YELAWOLF ISSUES NEW VIDEO

Yelawolf has released the video for his new single, “Daddy’s Lambo.” The clip, which includes a cameo from Paul Wall, is lifted from last year’s Trunk Muzik 0-60. Check it out at Yelawolf.com.

NICOLE TALKS ABOUT BEING X-FACTOR JUDGE

Nicole Scherzinger has officially been named a judge for the forthcoming American version of The X-Factor, and apparently, she found out about it in the paper. On an English TV show, the Pussycat Doll said that she’s thrilled for the “amazing opportunity,” but that she only found out when she read it in a “newspaper.” The X-Factor is set to premiere in September.

· Nicole is replacing Cheryl Cole as a judge, who was hired and then apparently fired almost immediately.
