ICE CUBE CONFIRMS FRIDAY IS COMING BACK!

Just a few weeks after we reported rumors about a fourth installment of the Friday franchise, Ice Cube recently confirmed to TMZ that the film is a go. In addition, the upcoming flick will include the original cast…and yes, Chris Tucker has agreed to reprise his role as “Smokey.” A rep for Cube Vision Productions said in a statement, “[Ice Cube] is very excited about this and has every intention to make it happen.” No word on when the comedy will hit the big screen, we’ll keep you posted.

RICK ROSS PREPS JAY-Z COLLABORATION

During an interview with MTV Sucker Free’s DJ Envy, Rick Ross shed new light on his upcoming album, God Forgives, I Don’t. Rozay says the project will definitely include guest verses from Jay-Z and stated, “You know, whenever me and the homie come together to collaborate, we gotta make it something special for Hip Hop,” he said. “We always make sure we have fun with it, but this record right here, this is our biggest collaboration ever.” The disc is slated to drop early 2012.

· Ross also addressed his recent health scare and explained, “I’m a grinder, I’m a hustler. That’s the next order of business. You’re so used to moving at 80 miles per hour. I gotta get rest now. Well, I’m supposed to. I try to. That’s what it was. I’m blessed, man. I went in and had my MRI and everything came back straight. It was just a case of me being overly exhausted.”

JAGGED EDGE FACING LAWSUIT FOR MISSING WEDDING

According to TMZ, Jagged Edge was recently accused of failing to show up for a scheduled performance. But not just any showcase, the R&B group missed someone’s wedding! After allegedly being paid 10-thousand dollars for the gig, a man named Victor Diaz tells the site he’s looking to file a lawsuit even though the band says they knew nothing about the ceremony. He claims, “They humiliated me and cost my wife her dream.” A rep for the band stated, “They are very heartbroken and sad that [Victor's] wedding got destroyed due someone using our name without permission.”

WATCH THE THRONE LYRICS TURNED INTO IFC FILM

Jay-Z and Kanye West are expected to appear in an upcoming movie from IFC Films…well, kinda. The lyrics from their GRAMMY-nominated album, Watch the Throne, have been turned into a three-minute mini-movie. According to PopDust.com, the clip is described as a skit “structured to resemble a conversation between three female twenty-something roommates about partying and general lifestyle discrepancies.” You have to view the short film to fully understand:

From the moment we first heard Mary J. Blige’s “Love A Woman” featuring Beyonce, we though this will make an amazing video! While promoting latest album, My Life II: The Journey Continues, the “Mr Wrong” singer said she’d love to shoot the visual but will wait until Jay-Z’s pregnant wife finds time in her busy schedule. LL COOL J REACTS TO NOT BEING INDUCTED… YET

After coming on the scene back in 1984, LL Cool J’s contributions to hip hop changed and gave new life to the genre. Put simply, the rapper, who has released thirteen studio albums and two greatest hits compilations, is a living legend. However, he is still waiting to be inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. On April 14th, the Beastie Boys will join Guns N Roses and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers in the music museum in Cleveland.

PLIES FACING 10 MILLION DOLLAR LAWSUIT!

According to AllHipHop.com, Plies is currently wrapped up in a 10-million dollar lawsuit stemming from a 2006 shooting inside a nightclub in Gainesville, Florida. In the suit, five victims were injured following a shooting that occurred before Pies was scheduled to perform at the venue. After learning about the hefty lawsuit, his lawyer Robert A. Rush said in a statement, “The plaintiffs’ claims against my client continue to be without merit, we look forward to having this resolved in a court of justice.” We’ll keep you posted.

THE NEXT SINGLE OFF DRAKE’S TAKE CARE WILL BE…

According to HipHop-N-More.com, Drake has announced that his next single off his Take Care LP will be “The Motto.” In addition to shooing a visual for the Lil Wayne-assisted track, the record will officially impact radio on January 10th. Up next, the title track with Rihanna is expected to run as the promo single for the album.

NAS REMEMBERS AMY WINEHOUSE

We all know Nas had a great friendship with the late Amy Winehouse, but the rapper has spilled new details about what he misses most about the soul singer. In a interview posted on Vimeo.com, the rapper said of Amy, “It’s a bittersweet feeling to do something with her now that she’s not here. I’m happy. The sweet part is that fans have new music from her, new because they’ve never heard it. The bitter part is that she’s no longer her to really give it to us and deliver her music and for us to see her smile and hear her voice.” Nas is featured on Winehouse’s latest disc, Lioness: Hidden Treasures, which is available now.

PHARRELL TO HELP SCORE 2012 ACADEMY AWARDS

According to Deadline.com, Pharrell Williams has reportedly agreed to serve as a musical consultant for the 2012 Academy Awards. The Neptunes producer will work alongside Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer for the highly anticipated ceremony. This marks their first time being the musical supervisors for the event which is scheduled to take place on February 26th, 2012 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California.

MOBB DEEP TALKS RICK ROSS COLLABO

Mobb Deep are preparing to drop their Black Cocaine this month, followed by their ninth, self-titled album at the top of 2012. Meanwhile, Prodigy and Havoc are looking to expand their horizons with a series of new collaborations, including one with Rick Ross. Prodigy recently told MTV News correspondent Sway Calloway that he has already reached out to Ross for a feature. After wrapping up a three-year prison stint for weapons possession in March, Prodigy said he headed directly to G-Unit’s New York City offices, where he met with 50 Cent – who signed the group to G-Unit in 2005 – to discuss the collaboration. 50 Cent and Rick Ross have a notorious beef, which hit fever pitch in 2009 when Fif launched a full-scale attack against Rozay on his blog, ThisIs50.com. Prodigy didn’t talk specifics about his intended Rick Ross collaborations, but did confirm that fans could expect a Mobb Deep collaboration soon.

· Prodigy on a possible Rick Ross collaboration: “All that is in the works, man. We like Rick Ross. I’mma be honest: We come from an era where longevity and consistency is key, and in the beginning, I ain’t really see that in him. Then while I was locked up, he was dropping more and more music. Jay-Z and Kanye West kicked off their Watch The Throne Tour in Atlanta on Friday. The two-and-a-half hour show features the pair performing together and then doing mini-sets of their individual material. The Watch The Throne Tour rolls into Baltimore tonight and Philadelphia tomorrow.

FUTURE DOESN’T WANT TO BE A ONE-HIT WONDER

Future is super aware of haters thinking that his smash record, “Tony Montana,” will be his first and only hit single. The rapper said being a one-hit wonder is simply not an option. Fans can expect the Future’s debut album, called Pluto, at the top of 2012.

According to Rap-Up.com, Pharrell has paid Justin Bieber a huge compliment. The Neptunes hit-maker told the young singer that he was impressed with his vocals on his new holiday album, Under the Mistletoe. The two were in the studio working on new music for his next studio album along with Usher, who added that Bieber’s voice is “incredible.” Hear for yourself as Bieber’s Under the Mistletoe album is out now. NEW DETAILS ON NWA MOVIE!

A biopic about West Coast rap group N.W.A. has been in the works for some time and now, Ice Cube has been named as one of the producers along with John Singleton, who might direct the film. In an interview with The Playlist, Singleton said that he has been in contact with Cube and added that the script is “really really good.” No further details are known at this time.

SOULJA BOY READIES NEW DOCUMENTARY

XXLMag.com reports Soulja Boy’s documentary is coming out next month. The flick, titled Soulja Boy: The Movie, follows the “Crank That” rapper as he goes from an unknown rapper to a platinum-selling talent. Fans can expect the movie to be released on October 18th through Image Entertainment.

50 CENT TALKS PLAYGROUND BOOK

HipHop-N-More.com reports 50 Cent is speaking up on why he wanted to release his second book, Playground, which tells the story of a boy struggling with bullies. 50 stated, “This book would have been very helpful for me growing up and now that I have a teenage son, it is my goal that this will have a positive influence on all teenagers.” The semi-autobiographical novel is available for pre-order on Amazon.com now. It hits bookstores on November 1st.

PHARRELL WORKING ON FRANK OCEAN’S DEBUT

During an interview with Vibe.com, Pharrell Williams revealed that he’s been working on Frank Ocean’s upcoming debut album. The hitmaker said of the Odd Future member, “He’s super talented. To me he’s like the black James Taylor. He’s lyrical—he’s got a great perspective and super sick melodies. I haven’t seen anybody bob and weave through chords with such catchy melodies in a long time—that’s why I liked working with him.” No word on when the project will hit stores.

UPDATE ON DR DRE’S DETOX

According to HipHopDX.com, Kendrick Lamar has spilled new details on where Dr Dre is at with his long-awaited Detox LP. The rap rookie stated, “Detox is getting mixed. That’s all I can say. It’s getting mixed. I could say anything about Detox, nobody would ever believe me.” Kendrick, who contributed to the set, added, “The creative process is so crazy as far as going in there and narrowing down all these songs. Thousands of songs [to pick from].” A launch date is not known at this time.

ROBIN THICKE REUNITES WITH LIL WAYNE

While working on his upcoming album, Love After War, Robin Thicke revealed that he’s teamed up with Lil Wayne on a song called “Pretty Little Heart.” In addition, the disc will include collaborations with Pharrell Williams, Faith Evans, Usher and Maxwell. As previously mentioned, the follow-up to 2009′s Sex Therapy lands on November 18th.

· Robin and Wayne previously worked together on “Tie My Hands,” “All Night Long” and “Shooter.”

JUVENILE, MANNIE FRESH WORKING ON A NEW ALBUM

According to XXLMag.com Juvenile is back in the studio and working with Mannie Fresh on a new album titled Rejuvination. Juve told XXL, “Mannie Fresh doing most of the beats on this album. We trying to get the mix straight on the single.” While details are sparse, the LP will have features from Drake, Lloyd and Rick Ross.

JOHN LEGEND PRODUCES NEW FAMILY SHOW

According to Deadline.com, John Legend’s executive produced family sitcom has been picked up by NBC. The show, Mixed Blessings, reportedly follows “a prominent, black, street-bred hip-hop artist enjoying his single life who discovers that he has a teenage son and decides to connect with him and his white suburban family.” This is the singer’s first venture into television.

· Here are further details on the series: “The show explores the culture clash and the complicated journey of a father and son beginning their relationship as the dad soon discovers that fame, talent, and wealth get you nowhere when it comes to parenting.”

COMMON: “NAS IS THE BEST RAPPER ALVE”

During a recent appearance on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Common had nothing but high praise for Nas. The rapper, who was promoting his new book, One Day It’ll All Make Sense, stated, “Nas is so poetic with it and I feel like his lyrics, you can write ‘em down on paper and they will last for time. It would be like literature that we read.” In related news, Common’s upcoming album, The Dreamer, The Believer, is due out on November 22nd.

LADY GAGA CALLS FOR MEETING WITH OBAMA 

Lady Gaga has reached out to President Obama to try to set up a meeting to discuss hate crimes following the death of 14-year-old Jamey Rodemeyer last weekend. Gaga wants Obama to enact laws making bullying a hate crime. Rodemeyer, who had posted an “It Gets Better” video in May about his long struggle with bullying at school, took his life on Sunday after what his parents said was years of taunting over his sexuality. In his video, Rodemeyer cited Gaga as an inspiration and on Wednesday, Gaga expressed her sadness over Rodemeyer’s death via Twitter, writing: “The past days I’ve spent reflecting, crying, and yelling. I have so much anger. It is hard to feel love when cruelty takes someone’s life.” She added that bullying “must become illegal. It is a hate crime.”

DMX CAUGHT WITH DRUGS, REMAINS IN PRISON

This is sad. TMZ reports DMX will remain in prison after he was recently caught with drugs. The rapper, who was scheduled to be released today (7/13), also violated numerous rules inside Arizona’s Yuma State Prison, including failing or refusing a drug test, unauthorized smoking and disorderly conduct. X will now have to stay locked up for an additional week, possibly longer.

· He spent seven months inside for probation violation.

FOXXY BROWN’S MOONING CASE GETS DROPPED

Do you remember when Foxy Brown was arrested after she mooned her neighbor? Well, according to the New York Post, the fem-cee has been cleared of all charges after her accuser, Arlene Raymond, refused to testify. Apparently, Raymond wanted to drop the case and put the matter behind her.

· As previously reported, Brown originally pleaded not guilty to these charges, refusing to comment on the matter.

· If she were convicted of the charges, she could have seen up to seven years in jail.

BEYONCÉ TO BE HONORED WITH BILLBOARD MILLENNIUM AWARD

Beyoncé Knowles will receive the Billboard Millennium Award at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards. The honor will recognize Beyoncé’s career achievements and her influence in the music industry, from her role as the frontwoman of Destiny’s Child to her three-chart-topping solo albums, which have collectively earned her 16 GRAMMY Awards and ASCAP’s Pop Songwriter of the Year Award. Bey will receive the honor at the May 22nd show, which airs on ABC at 8 Eastern from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

· Billboard named Beyoncé its Woman of the Year back in October of 2009 and Top Female Artist of the Decade in December of 2009.

· Beyoncé is putting the finishing touches on her fourth studio album, due out later this year. The album, whose debut single “Run the World (Girls)” premiered in April, will be her first since 2009′s I Am…Sasha Fierce, which sold 2.9-million copies, according to Nielsen Soundscan.

· The 2011 Billboard Music Awards will feature performances from Rihanna, the Black Eyed Peas, Lady Antebellum, Cee-Lo Green, Nicki Minaj, Pitbull and Taio Cruz.

JAY-Z AUCTIONS OFF INTERNSHIP FOR GOOD CAUSE

Jay-Z, Lady Gaga, and others will take part in an auction benefitting Mary J. Blige’s Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now (FFAWN) organization. As part of the auction, Jay-Z will be offering the opportunity to intern at his entertainment/record company Roc Nation. On top of Jay-Z’s Roc Nation internship, singer Christina Aguilera will be donating tickets to The Voice for the auction and pop star Lady Gaga will auction off a meet and greet at an upcoming Good Morning America appearance. The auction will be held through Charity Buzz, a luxury auction site that specializes in celebrity auctions.

NAS WINS AN EMMY

AllHipHop.com reports Nas has won a National Sports Emmy for the ESPN documentary, Survival 1. The Queensbridge rapper not only produced and scored the music for the documentary, but he also narrated and directed the film, which follows the Liberian Amputee Soccer Team. LADY GAGA AND KANYE WEST HEAD TO CANNES

Lady Gaga and Kanye West are set to perform at the Cannes Film Festival. Gaga landed in Paris on Tuesday to start promotion for her new album, Born This Way, which, like in the U-S, will be released in France on May 23rd. Gaga will head to Cannes to perform a live concert this afternoon on Canal Plus’ hit show Le Grand Journal. The 64th Annual Festival de Cannes kicked off today.

PHARRELL NAMED CREATIVE DIRECTOR OF KARMALOOP TV

Pharrell Williams has been named creative director for Karmaloop TV. According to Billboard.com, the network is set to launch later this year and will feature original shows as well as movies aimed at 18 to 34-year-olds who grew up with the Internet.

· Karmaloop CEO Greg Selkoe said Williams will help create a brand that will get “cutting-edge youth culture” excited about TV, as MTV did in the 1980s.

· Karmaloop TV is an extension of Karmaloop, a 10-year-old website that sells streetwear brands from around the world.

JERMAINE DUPRI SUED OVER MISSING CHILD SUPPORT

According to the Associated Press, an Atlanta-area woman is suing Jermaine Dupri over missed child support payments after a judge recently ordered him to pay her. Fulton County Superior Court Judge Margaret Dorsey told the GRAMMY-winning producer in March to pay over two-thousand dollars a month and an additional seven-thousand to Sarai Jones, based on the results of a paternity test. Jones’ attorney, Randy Kessler, said Jones hopes that she and Dupri “can work together to co-parent their beautiful baby girl,” who is 7 months old.

· Dupri’s mansion was up for foreclosure and set to be auctioned last week, but the sale was canceled at the last minute. He owes Georgia more than 493-thousand dollars in back taxes for 2007.

· Dupri has produced hits for artists including Usher and Mariah Carey, and had a seven-year relationship with R&B singer Janet Jackson that ended a couple years ago.

WHO IS TINIE TEMPAH?

Tinie Tempah is the man behind the hit single “Written in the Stars.” The U-K rapper had enormous success in his native land with his debut album Disc-Overy and now he is ready to bring his lyrical flow stateside. Tinie told us the back story behind his name.

“Yeah I mean I literally came up with the name Tinie Tempah in year eight which is like the eighth grade. And it was basically just me being obsessed with rappers and listening to rappers names and checking the meanings behind the names and I just thought I need the name of a really cool meaning but at the same time that’s really catchy.”

The 22-year-old added more about his unique name. “And you know it’s just two opposite things that make a perfect marriage almost that ying yang you know. I was against all the odds you know people literally said this was not possible but I still went for it, people told me to go right and I went left, and it all still managed to work for me. That is basically the sentiment behind the name Tinie Tempah.”

Tinie Tempah’s Disc-Overy album will be released on May 17th.

· Tinie Tempah was born Patrick Chukwuemeka Okogwu on November 7th, 1988. He is from South London. His first single in the U-K was “Pass Out,” which debuted at the top of the singles chart back in October.

DAVID GUETTA HACKED; SPAWNS HIT SINGLE

David Guetta’s latest single, “Where Them Girls At” featuring Flo Rida and Nicki Minaj, is already making noise on the charts. It sold more than 160-thosuand iTunes downloads in less than a week to soar to the top of the iTunes Dance Songs chart in the U-S and 10 other countries. The French DJ/producer is proud of the immediate success of the track, due to the circumstances of its release. Guetta was recently the victim of a computer hacking theft, which led him to rush the song out without radio promotion or a music video. Guetta is not taking the matter lightly, even hiring a Pentagon security specialist to track down the culprits.

· Guetta told MTV News about how the song was hacked saying, “Some hackers stole an a capella (version) of ‘Where Them Girls At,’ and I was really not ready, because I made a remix for Snoop Dogg and we released that record together, the ‘Sweat,’ record. I was not supposed to release the record so soon, and I was thinking of maybe using the Taio (Cruz) record as a first single. Hackers stole the a capella and someone produced some music around it and put my name on it and put it on the Net. So it was horrible, I really didn’t like the music. People thought it was me.”

NICKI STILL IN TOP TEN ON BILLBOARD 200

Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday climbed two spots this week to the number two slot on the Billboard 200 chart, and sold an additional 39-thousand copies. The rapper has already reached platinum status within two months after releasing the album on November 22nd. When we last spoke to the fem-cee, she just couldn’t thank her Young Money squad enough for helping her achieve so much in such a short amount of time. We think she has a strong chance of winning Best Rap Collaboration for Ludacris “My Chick Bad,” but we’ll have to wait until the 53rd Annual GRAMMY Awards airing live on February 13th at 8 PM ET on CBS.

50 CENT’s PENNY STOCK

50 Cent may come under the scrutiny of the SEC, after the rapper earned almost $8.7 million dollars by promoting the stock of a company he has a stake in. According to Fox News, the SEC could investigate 50 after he sent out a Tweet on Saturday (January 8th), encouraging his 3.8 million followers to buy shares in a H&H Imports, which trades under the symbol HNHI. The company owns TVGoods, which is marketing 50 Cent’s new “Sleek” line of headphones. The rapper owns 30 million shares in the company, which reported a net loss of $3.3 million dollars last year. On Monday, the company closed at 39 cents per share, up from 29 cents, after 50 sent out his tweets and the media first covered the story. 50 Cent sent out a follow-up Tweet warning his followers to make sure it was the “right investment.” The SEC would neither confirm, nor deny the reports of a possible investigation.

WYCLEF AND PRAS END ON-GOING BEEF

On Tuesday, Wyclef Jean and Pras reportedly ended their on-going feud which stemmed from Jean’s decision to run for the Haitian presidency. The former Fugees members happened to board the same flight to Haiti and were assigned to seats right across from one another. After the artists let bygones be bygones, Jean tweeted a picture of himself next to Pras to show followers that they’re on good terms again.

GUCCI GETS ICE CREAM TATTOO ON HIS FACE

Have you seen Gucci Mane’s new tattoo? The rapper recently got a massive multi-colored ice cream cone inked on the right side of his cheek. The emcee, who was recently released from a mental facility, went to Atlanta’s Tenth Street Tattoo parlor to get the tat, which pays tribute to his So Icey Entertainment label. DRAKE IS NOT DATING RIHANNA

Drake is setting the record straight and insists that he is not romantically involved with Rihanna. In a recent BBC Radio interview, Drizzy said of his “What’s My Name?” collaborator they “have a great connection, but no, we’re not together.” The Young Money member adds, “I care for her very much. She’s a great person.” As far as being tied down to any other woman, Drake is “just loving life. That’s it. I want to have some stories to tell the kids.”

According to Billboard.com, Usher was forced to postpone his European tour opening concert due to an unspecified illness. The “OMG” singer was expected to play in Berlin and could only offer the following apology to his fans overseas. KANYE, LUPE, PHARELL ALBUM DELAYED

While everyone is waiting for Jay-Z and Kanye West to drop their joint album, Watch the Throne, Lupe Fiasco has revealed that the project has infringed on his upcoming album with Yeezy. According to Rap-Up.com, Lupe spilled that Pharrell Williams is also apart of the disc that has been titled, Child Rebel Soldier. The Chicago rapper is a little upset that “whenever we get to go in [the studio] and have the time and the opportunity to do it, we’re always working on some other project.” No word on when Child Rebel Soldier will hit shelves, we’ll keep you posted!

Bruno Mars is back on top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart this week as his “Grenade” once again replaces Katy Perry’s “Firework” at number one. Mars’ “Grenade” edged “Firework” out of the top spot two weeks ago, only to have Perry’s track reclaim the chart’s lead spot for a fourth frame last week. “What’s My Name” by Rihanna featuring Drake is up one spot to number three, Ke$ha’s “We R Who We R” falls one notch to number four and P!nk’s “Raise Your Glass” holds at number five. Britney Spears’ new single “Hold It Against Me,” is expected to sell over 400-thousand copies, according to industry sources. It could easily debut at number one next week.

BILLBOARD TIDBITS: The rotating Hot 100 chart marks the first time two songs have alternated holds at number one over four weeks since “Live Your Life” by T.I. featuring Rihanna traded spots with Beyonce’s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)” in December 2008.

kinda had different views on the tour — no beef.” Brown added they “have
two different promoters, so whoever would get the tour would have to work it
out and I think they didn’t see eye-to-eye. I think we rushed into it. We

that the Philly rapper was incarcerated and was unable to keep an eye on the

tops the list, while Gaga comes in at number seven, after earning 62-million
dollars last year.  Winfrey is at number three – she earned over 315-million

is at number nine after taking in over 87 million dollars last year.  Talk
show host Ellen DeGeneres is 10th on the list and earned over 55-million

EMINEM SCORES FOURTH STRAIGHT WEEK ON TOP

Eminem’s Recovery album will remain at number one on the Billboard album
chart for a fourth consecutive week, selling 195-thousand copies, according
to Nielsen SoundScan.  It’s the first album to notch four straight weeks at
the summit since Susan Boyle’s I Dreamed a Dream spent six consecutive weeks

According to SingersRoom.com, Rihanna’s follow-up to Rated R will be less
edgy and more pop driven. Her rep released a statement explaining, “She
loves her fans and is trying to make the best album possible. It will be a
return to her pop roots but will have enough variety to please all her true
fans.” Ri Ri won’t release any more singles from Rated R. It’s currently

JENNIFER HUDSON MAKES PROGRESS FOR WINNIE

In addition to recording her sophomore album, Jennifer Hudson is also
focusing on her latest film project, Winnie. The singer and Terrence Howard
have reportedly already shot scenes, including a wedding ceremony, on
location in South Africa. In the biopic, J Hud portrays Winnie Mandela, the
ex-wife of Nelson Mandela – who is played by Howard. IMDB.com reports the

Last week, we reported Sean Kingston was being accused of sexual assault by
two women, but police said the case was not credible.  The charges have been

Director Joseph Kahn recently confirmed on Twitter that he’s shooting
Eminen’s “Love The Way You Lie” video. In addition to Rihanna being included

actors will shoot steamy scenes together. The single is off Em’s Recovery

Justin Timberlake, who stars in the upcoming Facebook movie The Social
Network, recently went behind the camera to direct an ad for his 901
Tequila.  According to E! Online, Timberlake cast the brother of his
ex-girlfriend, Jessica Biel, in the ad.  Biel’s bro, Justin, works at the
tequila company in real life and in the commercial, appears in a party scene

Mark Ronson wants very badly to be a part of Amy Winehouse’s forthcoming
album, the follow-up to the ultra-successful Back to Black.  According to

so they are “definitely working together,” and he hopes “to work on her
album.”  Winehouse recently said that the effort should be released sometime

Rick Ross has a lot of people excited about Teflon Don after releasing new
songs like “Live Fast Die Young” with Kanye West and “Maybach Music III”
featuring T.I., Jadakiss and Erykah Badu. The rapper revealed he’s just
getting warmed up and can’t wait until fans hear the complete album.

Things have headed south for recent newlyweds’ The-Dream and Christina
Milian. UsMagazine.com confirms the producer was spotted romping with his
assistant, Melissa Santiago, on a beach in the Caribbean last week. He also
wasn’t wearing his wedding ring. Dream’s wife tweeted: “Whatever you
think…believe it” and “I’ve officially lost my appetite” after seeing the
images of her husband frolicking with someone else. The news comes just five
months after the couple gave birth to their first child together, a little
girl named Violet. <WM>

confirming that the producer and Christina have split. The rep said, “Terius
‘The-Dream’ Nash is saddened to announce that his marriage to Christina

Violet. They ask for consideration and respect for their family moving
forward.”

UPDATE ON LIL WAYNE’S UPCOMING EP

Over the weekend, we reported Lil Wayne is looking to release an EP on his
birthday called I’m Not a Human Being. The CEO of Young Money, Cortez
Bryant, recently told Vibe.com, the project will include all new Weezy
material to tide fans over until Wayne’s The Carter IV is completed. In
addition to not putting the EP in stores, Bryant states, “We’ not about to
roll out no three month set up. We just gonna put it out virally and maybe
package it up for Christmas. Give ‘em a hard copy later for fan
appreciation.” Fans can anticipate I’m Not a Human Being to drop on

Snoop Dogg opened up to People magazine about his youngest daughter’s
struggle with lupus. The icon says he “felt helpless” when doctors couldn’t
explain why Cori was suffering from dramatic hair and weight loss. Snoop
added “she went downhill” before finally being diagnosis with lupus. The
hardcore rapper says the experience brought him closer to his wife, Shanté
Broadus. The emcee said that his child is “the toughest little thing I’ve
ever met… In the beginning lupus was winning. But now Cori is.”  <WM>

MONICA IS LUDACRIS’ COUSIN, TALKS STILL STANDING

After teaming with great producers like Jermaine Durpri and Missy Elliot,
Monica intentionally avoided having excessive collaborations on her Still
Standing album. She recently told us why Ludacris appears as the only
feature on the disc.

“Well not just because he’s my cousin, but also because my mom
actually married his uncle when I was about 10 so we grew up as cousins, I
don’t look at it as the whole step this-that because my step father is very
much like a father to me, were very close, and he knew what I meant when I
said ‘Still Standing,’ it didn’t have anything to do music, I was really
talkin about life.”

The singer says the title track was designed to inspire fans.

“I don’t ever want to be looked at as the victim, don’t pity me,
don’t feel sorry for me, if somebody somewhere else goin through exactly
what I’m going through too, ‘Still Standing’ says you can make it through

J. LO MAY GET HIT WITH 40-MILLION DOLLAR LAWSUIT?

As reported last week, Jennifer Lopez canceled a planned appearance at a
hotel in Cyprus due to reports that the appearance would make a political
statement in support of human rights abuse. Lopez’s management insists a
“full review of the relevant circumstances” resulted in her decision to
cancel, noting “Lopez would never knowingly support any state, country,
institution or regime that was associated with any form of human rights
abuse.”  However, according to ThatGrapeJuice.net, organizers plan to
proceed with a 35 to 40-million dollar lawsuit if Lopez does not show for

Lady Gaga is the number one requested concert in Los Angeles, according to
StubHub.com.  The website compiled a list of the top five most-requested
tickets in the Los Angeles-metropolitan area.  Gaga tops the list, followed
by Muse, Kings of Leon, Justin Bieber and the Dave Matthews Band.  Lady Gaga
will perform two shows at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on August 11th
and 12th, while Bieber plays the Nokia Theater at L.A. Live on July 20th.
Kings of Leon played the Hollywood Bowl last night and head to the Verizon
Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine, California tomorrow night. The Dave
Matthews Band will take the stage at the Hollywood Bowl on August 23rd and

KATY PERRY TALKS SEX AND RELIGION

Katy Perry made it clear that she wasn’t the biggest fan of Lady Gaga’s
video for her song “Alejandro” because of the use of religious imagery, and
the pop star is going more in depth about her comments.  The “California
Gurls” singer told British magazine Star that she doesn’t care if it’s
Madonna or her fiancé talking, “If you put sexuality and religion in the
same bottle and try to shake it up, it’s not cool.” <ZS>

USHER SINGS IN CHINESE

According to the Associated Press, Usher sang in Chinese, briefly, during
his China debut concert Sunday night in Beijing.  Usher sang one of Asian
pop sensation Wang Lihong’s songs in Chinese, Wang told a joint press
conference Saturday night, and the two performed Usher’s current
chart-topper “OMG.” Usher’s is the first big foreign concert tour to perform
in China this year. Usher took to his Twitter account and wrote “Beijing
Love you – that was fun!”   Next month, he is releasing eight new songs on a
new disc called Versus.

Last Tuesday, Drake spilled the beans to Extra that he’s been working on new
material with Chris Brown. The “Fireworks” rapper revealed he “was actually
in the studio with Chris Brown for a little bit. Then I was studio hopping,
seeing where I can lend my hand since I’ve done mine.” It’s unknown if the
songs the artists worked on will appear on Brown’s follow-up to Graffiti. In

One year ago, in the wake of Michael Jackson’s death, the “King of Pop”
ruled with the top three selling albums in the U-S as Number Ones, The
Essential Michael Jackson and Thriller ranked at numbers one through three,
respectively.  This week, as the public commemorated the first anniversary
of his death on June 25th, a number of Jackson’s albums see gains on the
Billboard album chart.  According to Nielsen SoundScan figures, Jackson’s
Number Ones album rises 68 spots to number 42, Essential climbs 104 slots to

looking to release a new album. Interestingly enough, the reality star

former trio’s first effort since group member Lisa “Left Eye” Lopez passed
away April 25th, 2002. Since then, Chilli and T-Boz have continued to tour

CIARA ANNOUNCES NEW RELEASE DATE

Ciara announced the release date for her upcoming Basic Instinct album. The
“Ride” singer tweeted the disc will arrive this summer on August 24th. The
project will be executive produced by The Dream and Tricky Stewart.
Amazon.com previously reported Ci Ci’s disc was slated to go up against

Bruno Mars wants to be more than just the voice on B.o.B’s “Nothing On You”
hook. The Hawaiian singer revealed what people will enjoy most on his It’s
Better If You Don’t Understand EP.

“I think all the songs on my EP, the trick was after we did
“Nothing on You”. A lot of times Pop songs, they stack their vocals, so it’s
really four people singing to you. They’re stacking it. “Nothing on you” is
one vocal and I think that’s what make it personable and really kind of
vulnerable. And, you’re just out there naked basically singing this song.”

RZA is looking to make his directorial debut with a film called Wu-Tang Vs.

teamed with Hostel director Eli Roth to create a modern day kung-fu movie on
martial arts. It’s unknown when the film will hit theaters. Fans can expect
the rapper to star opposite Robert Downey, Jr. in an upcoming flick called
