CHRIS BROWN RESPONDS TO GQ’S FASHION REVIEW

We recently reported Chris Brown’s fashion sense has landed him on the U-K’s GQ magazine the worst dressed list. After hearing the news, Brown tweeted, “The clothes don’t wear you, you wear the clothes.” He added, “A lot of my fashion icons today are like Pharrell [Williams], he has a lot of incredible style and him being from Virginia, that’s always one of those things that get the kids going excited.” In related news, his next album, Fortune, will arrive in March.

DRAKE BREAKS DIDDY’S RECORD

According to his official fansite, Drake is no longer tied with Diddy for the most number one singles on the Billboard Rap Songs chart. Since the rapper’s “Make Me Proud” with Nicki Minaj landed at number one last week, Aubrey has surpassed Puff with 11 number ones under his belt – here they are:

WIZ KAHALIFA BREAKS DOWN TITLE FOR NEXT LP

MTV News caught up with Wiz Khalifa to find out more about his upcoming album, O.N.I.F.C. Since many fans are wondering what the title means, the “Black & Yellow” rapper explained, “It’s the Only N-Word in First Class. It’s inspired by Prodigy’s H.N.I.C. When he dropped that, I felt like that sounded so strong.” Wiz shared, “I was just talking about me being a young rich dude and being black.” The release date for the project is yet to be announced.

Wiz confirmed a song will be produced by Pharrell.

JA RULE FINISHES HIS GED IN PRISON

According to the New York Daily News, Ja Rule is making good use of his two-year prison sentence stemming from weapons and tax evasion charges. The 36-year-old rapper has reportedly earned his GED during his stint. In addition, Ja plans to begin college-level courses later this month, most likely after his seventh studio album, Pain Is Love 2, arrives on February 28th.

DAY26 RETURNS WITH “MADE LOVE LATELY”

Day26 is back like they never let. The former Bad Boy band have issues a new song called “Made Love Lately,” which serves as the first single from the group’s upcoming album, A New Day. One of the members, Brian, told Rap-Up.com, “It’s real R&B. It’s taking it back to that ’90s R&B. It’s heartfelt, it’s passion.” The disc, which include contributions from Bryan-Michael Cox and Rico Love, will arrive via Atlantic Records later this year. MACHINE GUN KELLY’S “INVINCIBLE” USED FOR WRESTLEMANIA

According to AllHipHop.com, Machine Gun Kelly’s new single, “Invincible,” will be used during the upcoming Wrestlemania XXVIII event in Miami. The Ester Dean-featured song will serve as WWE star John Cena’s music during his wrestling match against The Rock. VH1 TO NAME 100 GREATEST WOMEN IN MUSIC

Vh1’s celebration of the greatest women in music history is back by popular demand. However, fans can expect a huge make-over. In order to feature a larger spectrum of talent, this year’s fan-generated list will include six different categories – “All Time,” “90s,” “80s,” “Pop,” “Rock” and “Hip/Hop R&B.” The list will also include more contemporary performers. MADONNA DROPS NEW VIDEO!

Madonna has released her “Give Me All Your Luvin’” video. The clip features Nicki Minaj and M.I.A., masked cheerleaders, football players and a lot of old-school Madonna references. The clip opens with Nicki and M.I.A. done up in cheerleader costumes chanting Madge’s name. It then cuts to Madonna kicking down the door of her suburban home, pushing along a baby stroller. From there, the video takes some unusual turns: football players tackling street signs, Madonna abandoning her baby carriage to hang out with her cheerleader crew, shots of her done up in black lingerie and a giant cross dancing in front of a brick wall. The video ends with Madonna tossing her baby doll to the side as one final message flashes across the screen: “Touchdown!,” a tip of the hat to her Super Bowl appearance over the weekend. “Give Me Your Luvin’” is the first single off her new album, MDNA, which will arrive on March 26th.

NFL APOLOGIZES FOR MIA’s MIDDLE FINGER DURING MADONNA’S HALF TIME PERFORMANCE

At Sunday’s Super Bowl, it wasn’t a “wardrobe malfunction” that got tongues wagging, but an appendage malfunction.

M.I.A.’s hand signal during her Super Bowl performance of the new Madonna single was a switch from the handgun motion she uses in the video for the song.

Madonna’s halftime show — which featured hip-hoppers Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. clad in cheerleader attire and pompoms, singing along to the pop star’s new single, Give Me All Your Luvin’— was upstaged when M.I.A. (aka Maya Arulpragasam) extended her middle finger to the cameras. A record 111.3 million viewers saw the British rapper’s brief obscene gesture during the telecast, the most-watched TV program in U.S. history, according to Nielsen figures.

Oops.

NBC had a five-second video delay on the show but managed to blur M.I.A’s raised finger only after it appeared on air.

People “flipping the bird” during football games is not rare, even on camera: In October, Green Bay Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk was fined $10,000 for flashing his middle finger during a televised Fox game against the St. Louis Rams.

It just doesn’t usually come from the halftime entertainment.

“If you’re going to go all-in on the spectacle of performing on a halftime show in the Super Bowl, you should probably keep your middle finger down,” says Craig Marks, editor in chief of PopDust.com. “Who are you actually flipping off? It just seems out of place, and it’s not a good platform to try to be particularly rebellious.”

The Super Bowl is such a mainstream event, “things that at a typical performance would not make anybody bat an eye become the subject of a very intense focus,” says Rolling Stone contributing editor Anthony DeCurtis.

The rapper — who was one of Google’s most-searched subjects Monday — isn’t commenting on the incident, but such rude moments aren’t out of the norm for the music industry.

A shot of Johnny Cash giving the middle finger to photographer Jim Marshall during a 1969 performance at San Quentin Prison added to the Man in Black’s mystique. But when Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift as she accepted a trophy during the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, his image wasn’t helped at all. “That made him look like a twit,” DeCurtis says.

Usually in the world of hip-hop, foul language and gestures can be a boon for artists (see: 2 Live Crew).

“She’s supposed to be controversial,” DeCurtis says. “M.I.A. is certainly not on the scale of Madonna or Nicki Minaj, and it might help (her career) now that people know who she is.”

Marks isn’t sure whether the Paper Planes singer’s errant appendage — a switch from the handgun motion she uses in the video for the new Madonna single — will help or hinder sales for her upcoming new album. (The first single was released Friday. The title? Bad Girls.)

But Chris Willman of Yahoo Music definitely sees it as a plus for M.I.A. “I don’t think she’s ever gotten this much attention before,” he says. “That’s the kind of publicity you can’t buy when you have an album coming out.

“Who would have guessed that Madonna would be an afterthought in what people are talking about after the show? Madonna might be more mad than any conservative groups.”

NBC and the NFL later issued apologies for the incident.

“The NFL hired the talent and produced the halftime show,” NBC spokesman Christopher McCloskey said. “Our system was late to obscure the inappropriate gesture and we apologize to our viewers.”

Said NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy: “The obscene gesture in the performance was completely inappropriate, very disappointing, and we apologize to our fans.”

In the long run, the incident won’t be as infamous as Janet Jackson’s, when the singer’s breast was exposed for about a second while performing with Justin Timberlake during the 2004 Super Bowl. The FCC fined CBS $550,000, but that was fine overturned by a federal appeals court.

“Nothing freaks out America more than nudity while the children are watching,” Marks says.

That led to a run of more “non-controversial” Super Bowl performers such as Bruce Springsteen, The Who and the Rolling Stones.

“Madonna to this day courts controversy,” DeCurtis says. “In a certain sense, if you’re asking Madonna, Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. to get up on stage, you’re getting what you asked for.”

Still, there were the next-day mea culpas. The NFL issued an apology for “the completely inappropriate gesture,” while NBC said in a statement that its delay system failed to catch the “spontaneous” middle finger in time. The Parents Television Council was not amused either, calling the gesture “a slap in the face.”

Marks suspects the gesture was more premeditated than spontaneous, seeing how M.I.A. looked directly at the camera when she did it.

“The only mystery is whether or not Madonna approved of her message, whether she knew she was going to do it, or whether she tried to stop her or not. Maybe she put her up to it, who knows?” he says.

“My instinct is that (M.I.A.) recognized the overblown ridiculousness that is the Super Bowl halftime show. (Maybe) she felt a little silly for being up there in a mock cheerleader costume cheering for Madonna and she just wanted to make her mark somehow.”

The action and the reaction, however, both seem equally juvenile to Marks. “It’s amazing that people care so much about such a small little thing, but that’s the Super Bowl for you.”

Says Willman: “Everybody’s seen a middle finger before.”

Jay-Z and Coldplay’s Chris Martin are ready to Viva Las Vegas. The rap and rock duo, who have a history of performing together, are slated to headline an invite-only New Year’s Eve gig at the brand new Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas for a multi-million dollar paycheck.

The lavish show is being handled by party planner Colin Cowie (Oprah, Lil Wayne) with plans for each artist to play his own material before teaming up for a joint set broadcast on the hotel’s 65-foot marquee overlooking the Vegas Strip. The pals recently performed together at Jay-Z’s “Home & Home” concert at Yankee Stadium.

Rumor has it that Hov’s wife Beyoncé is also scouting out a location to play a New Year’s Eve performance so she won’t be far from her hubbie.

JEREMIH PREPS SOPHOMORE EFFORT

After releasing the lead Ludacris-assisted single “I Like,” fans are eager
to find out what Jeremih is cooking up on his sophomore album. According to
BallerStatus.com, the “Birthday Sex” crooner recently gave a preview of his
new album, titled All About, at an exclusive event in New York City. The
disc reportedly delivers great baby-making songs, like “Down on Me,” as well
as upbeat cuts, “X’s and O’s.” The effort is slated to land in stores on
September 28th via Def Jam.

?UESTLOVE TO RELEASE A BOOK?

According to his official website, ?uestlove has announced that he’s looking
to release a book called Mommy, What’s A ?uestlove. The Roots drummer will
provide readers with a deep perspective on his “music, life and famous
friends.” OkayPlayer.com reports that there is no confirmed release date for
the novel, however it will be distributed through onGrand Central
Publishing.

 BRUNO MARS ARRESTED FOR COCAINE POSSESSION

Following his arrest early Sunday morning in Las Vegas, Bruno Mars was all smiles in this newly released mug shot. More details have emerged on the “Just the Way You Are” singer’s run-in with the law.

Though it was previously revealed that he was busted for narcotics possession in the bathroom of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, TMZ has learned that the hitmaker was in possession of 2.6 grams of cocaine, discovered on his person after security guards confronted him.

Bruno was released shortly after his arrest, heading down to Texas to do radio promo. “Texas is dope! Im in dallas rite now looking foward to meeting some folks @ the radio stations. tune in for a special live performance,” he tweeted.

The setback comes amidst a busy promo schedule for Mars. He will release his debut album Doo-Wops & Hooligans on Oct. 5, followed by his tour kickoff with Maroon 5 and OneRepublic, and his “SNL” debut on Oct. 9.

T.I. TO APPEAR BEFORE JUDGE

According to TMZ, T.I. is scheduled to appear before a judge in Atlanta
after traces of codeine were allegedly found in the rapper’s car. The outlet
is also saying that Tip reportedly tested positive for the substance, which
was said to have been found in Styrofoam cups in his vehicle. In addition,
Clifford is charged with violating two other agreements of his probation
during the stop, including possession of ecstasy and associating with a
convicted felon. We previously reported the “Got You Back” rapper and his
wife, Tiny, were arrested two weeks ago for drug possession.

KID CUDI HAD DRUG PROBLEM?

In the October/November 2010 issue of Complex magazine, Kid Cudi admits to
doing cocaine in the past to help him get through the day. Scott stated the
drug helped him during interviews when “people wanted to know a lot about
[his] personal life.” To mask his coke usage, Cudi would “smoke weed” to
calm himself down. However, the rapper says he QUOTE “never thought it was a
problem, but I was definitely high-fiving death a couple of times.”  Fans
can expect the emcee to address topics like this on his next studio album,
Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager.

B.O.B. BEGINS WORKING ON NEXT ALBUM

B.o.B recently revealed that he’s already begun working on his sophomore
album. We previously reported that 50 Cent was looking to work with the
Grand Hustle artist, however the Atlanta native filled us in on the
likelihood of that happening (See Related Cut #1). No further details are
known about the follow-up to this year’s The Adventures Of Bobby Ray.  We’ll
keep you posted.

NICKI MINAJ’s UNRELEASED ACTING FOOTAGE

Young Money rapper Nicki Minaj‘s theatrical debut has hit the Internet with the leak of her movie role in the 2009 film, Stuck on Broke. You may already be familiar with her aliases Roman Zolanski, Nicki Lewinsky, and Harajuku Barbie. Now Nicki Minaj takes on a new role in this lost scene from the 2009 independent movie Stuck on Broke starring OJ Da Juiceman. A stripped-down Minaj, seen without her colorful wigs, plays the part of Veronica in this emotional scene, cut from the flick after she was unable to shoot additional scenes due to scheduling conflicts. “We recognized Nicki’s talent early, [but] unfortunately it didn’t work out,” said the film’s producers. As of now, Minaj is focused on the November 23rd release of her debut album, Pink Friday. Minaj definitely has a lot to say about the politics of being a woman in the 21st-century music biz. “Everybody knows I can go out and pick a dude and date him,” she says. “But I want to do what people think I can’t do, which is have the number 1 album in the country and be the first female rapper to sell records like dudes in this day and age.”

BUN B FELT PIMP C’S SPIRIT WHILE MAKING LP

Even though it’s been almost three years since Pimp C of UGK passed away,
Bun B told us the late rapper’s presence can be felt on Trill O.G. The
surviving member of the duo explained that Pimp’s spirit helped create Bun’s
best work ever.

“Oh make no mistakes about it, he was definitely in the room I mean
there was a lot of moment, I mean we called them Pimp C moments, on this
album where we realized, like woah where did that come from, why did I say
that, why did we do this, why do we call this song that, and like ok we had
a Pimp C moment in here.  And we just let it roll with it because in the
studio he always made the right moves and he always had the right opinions
so when we see things leaning a certain way and we don’t really collectively
know exactly how it got that way, we just talk it up to the Pimp makin his
moves on this album and we roll with it, and all the Pimp C moments actually
make sense, so they stay.”

LADY GAGA ADMITS TO DOING COCAINE?

In the latest issue of Vanity Fair magazine, Lady Gaga confessed that she’s
“mostly” experimented with cocaine and “terrified” of heroin. The pop star
stated, “I won’t lie; it’s occasional and when I say occasional, I mean
maybe a couple of times a year.” The singer warns fans that they shouldn’t
“ever emulate that” or “think they have to be that way to be great. It’s in
the past. It was a low point, and it led to disaster.” The 24-year-old icon
revealed she recovered at her 82-year-old grandmother’s house in West
Virginia after a scary incident. It’s not known if Gaga is currently still

According to People magazine, Shakria is the latest artist to release a
fragrance.  The Colombian superstar has bottled a new perfume called S by

sandalwood and an oriental dream housed in a luminous bottle that evokes an

According to Billboard, Eminem’s Recovery has topped the U-S Billboard album
chart for six straight weeks, while the rapper has topped the U-K album
charts for five non-consecutive weeks.  Em held off a strong advance from
Tom Jones, whose gospel album Praise and Blame bows at number two on the
chart.  Other hot artists in the U-K include, Plan B, Eliza Doolittle,
Avenged Sevenfold, Michael Buble and Paolo Nutini.  Meanwhile, Eminem scores
his fourth non-consecutive week on top of the European album chart, while

Rick Ross has a lot of people excited about Teflon Don after releasing new
songs like “Live Fast Die Young” with Kanye West and “Maybach Music III”
featuring T.I., Jadakiss and Erykah Badu. The rapper revealed he’s just
getting warmed up and can’t wait until fans hear the complete album.

“I’m ecstatic; you know what I’m saying? And I most definitely feel

THE DREAM CHEATS WITH HIS ASSISTANT, SPLITS FROM WIFE!

Things have headed south for recent newlyweds’ The-Dream and Christina
Milian. UsMagazine.com confirms the producer was spotted romping with his
assistant, Melissa Santiago, on a beach in the Caribbean last week. He also
wasn’t wearing his wedding ring. Dream’s wife tweeted: “Whatever you
think…believe it” and “I’ve officially lost my appetite” after seeing the
images of her husband frolicking with someone else. The news comes just five
months after the couple gave birth to their first child together, a little
girl named Violet. <WM>

*       The Dream’s spokesperson released a statement to UsMagazine.com
confirming that the producer and Christina have split. The rep said, “Terius
‘The-Dream’ Nash is saddened to announce that his marriage to Christina
Milian was unsuccessful. The couple reached this decision in late 2009, but
decided to keep the news private in efforts to protect their baby daughter
Violet. They ask for consideration and respect for their family moving
forward.”

UPDATE ON LIL WAYNE’S UPCOMING EP

Over the weekend, we reported Lil Wayne is looking to release an EP on his
birthday called I’m Not a Human Being. The CEO of Young Money, Cortez
Bryant, recently told Vibe.com, the project will include all new Weezy
material to tide fans over until Wayne’s The Carter IV is completed. In
addition to not putting the EP in stores, Bryant states, “We’ not about to
roll out no three month set up. We just gonna put it out virally and maybe
package it up for Christmas. Give ‘em a hard copy later for fan
appreciation.” Fans can anticipate I’m Not a Human Being to drop on

*       According to MTV News, Lil Wayne is approximately halfway through
his yearlong sentence for weapons possession.  He isn’t due to be released
from Rikers Island until November at the earliest, however he may be

SNOOP TALKS DAUGHTER’S BATTLE WITH LUPUS

Snoop Dogg opened up to People magazine about his youngest daughter’s
struggle with lupus. The icon says he “felt helpless” when doctors couldn’t
explain why Cori was suffering from dramatic hair and weight loss. Snoop
added “she went downhill” before finally being diagnosis with lupus. The
hardcore rapper says the experience brought him closer to his wife, Shanté
Broadus. The emcee said that his child is “the toughest little thing I’ve
ever met… In the beginning lupus was winning. But now Cori is.”  <WM>

MONICA IS LUDACRIS’ COUSIN, TALKS STILL STANDING

After teaming with great producers like Jermaine Durpri and Missy Elliot,
Monica intentionally avoided having excessive collaborations on her Still
Standing album. She recently told us why Ludacris appears as the only
feature on the disc.

“Well not just because he’s my cousin, but also because my mom
actually married his uncle when I was about 10 so we grew up as cousins, I
don’t look at it as the whole step this-that because my step father is very
much like a father to me, were very close, and he knew what I meant when I
said ‘Still Standing,’ it didn’t have anything to do music, I was really
talkin about life.”

The singer says the title track was designed to inspire fans.

“I don’t ever want to be looked at as the victim, don’t pity me,
don’t feel sorry for me, if somebody somewhere else goin through exactly
what I’m going through too, ‘Still Standing’ says you can make it through
that.”

Still Standing is available now. Fans can expect the Chris Robinson-directed

LABEL CONFIRMS NICKI MINAJ RELEASE DATE

Just days after Nicki Minaj tweeted that her debut album will arrive on
November 23rd, a rep for her label, Young Money/Cash Money, has confirmed
the date will stick. XXLMag.com reports her release date was intentionally
designed to fall two days before Thanksgiving, especially since Black Friday
marks the biggest shopping day of the year. Let the countdown officially

According to Rap-Up.com, M.I.A. has nothing but kind words for Nicki Minaj.

a female rapper has come up with that much… She’s got a really good work
ethic, and I get her.” The two artists joined together on the remix for a
song called “Teqkilla” from M.I.A’s upcoming album, /\/\/\Y/\ (Pron: Maya).

LIL KIM SAYS SHE’S STILL RELEVANT!

Lil’ Kim insists she’s still relevant in the music industry. The 35-year-old
rapper told LifeLounge.com she’ll never fade out because she’s “constantly
growing” and knows “how to reinvent myself, I know how to change with the
times.” The artist, who is currently beefing with newcomer Nicki Minaj, also
feels she’s “probably even more relevant than a lot of new people who come
into the industry.” It’s still not known when Kim will release the follow-up

PHARRELL SCORES DESPICABLE ME

According to Variety, Universal’s 3D animated flick Despicable Me took the
top spot at the weekend box raking in over 60-million dollars. Last week, we

J. LO MAY GET HIT WITH 40-MILLION DOLLAR LAWSUIT?

As reported last week, Jennifer Lopez canceled a planned appearance at a
hotel in Cyprus due to reports that the appearance would make a political
statement in support of human rights abuse. Lopez’s management insists a
“full review of the relevant circumstances” resulted in her decision to
cancel, noting “Lopez would never knowingly support any state, country,
institution or regime that was associated with any form of human rights
abuse.”  However, according to ThatGrapeJuice.net, organizers plan to
proceed with a 35 to 40-million dollar lawsuit if Lopez does not show for
the July 24th gig.  July 24th also marks Lopez’s 41st birthday.  <JC>

GAGA TOPS LIST OF LA SHOWS!

Lady Gaga is the number one requested concert in Los Angeles, according to
StubHub.com.  The website compiled a list of the top five most-requested
tickets in the Los Angeles-metropolitan area.  Gaga tops the list, followed
by Muse, Kings of Leon, Justin Bieber and the Dave Matthews Band.  Lady Gaga
will perform two shows at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on August 11th
and 12th, while Bieber plays the Nokia Theater at L.A. Live on July 20th.
Kings of Leon played the Hollywood Bowl last night and head to the Verizon
Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine, California tomorrow night. The Dave
Matthews Band will take the stage at the Hollywood Bowl on August 23rd and
Muse goes to the Staples Center on September 25th and    <JC>

KATY PERRY TALKS SEX AND RELIGION

Katy Perry made it clear that she wasn’t the biggest fan of Lady Gaga’s
video for her song “Alejandro” because of the use of religious imagery, and
the pop star is going more in depth about her comments.  The “California
Gurls” singer told British magazine Star that she doesn’t care if it’s
Madonna or her fiancé talking, “If you put sexuality and religion in the
same bottle and try to shake it up, it’s not cool.” <ZS>

USHER SINGS IN CHINESE

According to the Associated Press, Usher sang in Chinese, briefly, during
his China debut concert Sunday night in Beijing.  Usher sang one of Asian
pop sensation Wang Lihong’s songs in Chinese, Wang told a joint press
conference Saturday night, and the two performed Usher’s current
chart-topper “OMG.” Usher’s is the first big foreign concert tour to perform
in China this year. Usher took to his Twitter account and wrote “Beijing
Love you – that was fun!”   Next month, he is releasing eight new songs on a
new disc called Versus.

NICKI ANNOUNCES RELEASE DATE FOR DEBUT ALBUM

After appearing as a feature on multiple songs for numerous artists, Nicki Minaj is prepared to stand alone on her untitled debut album. The leading lady of Young Money just announced on Twitter that her upcoming disc will be
available on November 23rd. Led by her number one single “Your Love,” the project will receive contributions from mega producer Swizz Beatz. The hitmaker recently told MTV News, “Nicki is an amazing writer. She wrote her
own choruses, and she’s doing some amazing things.” <WM>

EMINEM NUMBER ONE ON DIGITAL SONGS CHART

Eminem’s “Love The Way You Lie” featuring Rihanna stays on top of the

downloads, according to Nielsen SoundScan figures.  The biggest gainer on
the tally is Taio Cruz’s “Dynamite,” which shoots up seven spots to number
three, shifting over 189-thousand downloads.  Kanye West scores the highest
new entry on the chart with “Power” bowing at number 14, selling 80-thosuand

THE DREAM GRABS NUMBER FOUR ON BILLBOARD

The Dream’s third studio album, Love King, debuted at the number four spot on the Billboard 200 chart. The disc, which is rumored to be his final effort, managed to sell over 58-thousand copies in its opening week. When we

surrounds herself with pretty girls? Well, he is the pretty bitch with the

Similar to Queen Latifah, Janelle Monae has become the latest artist whose

After learning that her “Your Love” single topped Billboard’s Rap Chart, Nicki Minaj told MTV News she was shocked. The fem-cee revealed she wasn’t “planning on putting the song out at all” and was initially “upset” that it
leaked without being mixed or finished. Nevertheless, the song is the first to reach number one by a female lyricist since Missy Elliott’s “Work It” in 2002 – which spent 12 weeks at number one. Congrats! Fans can expect a video

Eminem’s Recovery tops the Billboard album chart for the second straight week, selling 313-thousand copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The album has sold over 1.1-million copies in the U-S in just two weeks.  It marks the
first release to sell in excess of 300-thosuand for multiple weeks since Susan Boyle’s I Dreamed a Dream racked up five 300-thousand-plus weeks last December.  Drake’s Thank Me Later remains at number two, selling
105-thousand copies.  The Twilight Saga: Eclipse soundtrack leaps seven spots to number three, following the release of the highly anticipated film. The-Dream’s Love King bows at number four, the Now 34 compilation holds at
number five and Justin Bieber’s My World 2.0 climbs two spots to number six. 3Oh!3′s Streets of Gold debuts at number seven, Jack Johnson’s To The Sea falls one spot to number eight, Miley Cyrus’ Can’t Be Tamed drops six

LADY GAGA CHANGES GRAMMY RULES

Lady Gaga’s exclusion from the Best New Artist category at this year’s GRAMMYS has caused the Recording Academy to change eligibility requirements for the next ceremony.  Although Lady Gaga was one of the most popular new
artists of 2009, she was ineligible for a best new artist nomination because her hit “Just Dance” had been nominated for Best Dance Recording in 2008. The rules stated that once an artist is nominated for a GRAMMY, they cannot
be nominated for Best New Artists the following year.  Recording Academy President Neil Portnow told us that there would be changes so that this situation would not repeat itself.  The rule change allows previous GRAMMY
nominees to be eligible, as long as the artist hasn’t released an entire album and hasn’t won a GRAMMY. <JC>

During the 2010 Essence Music Festival, Alicia Keys fell mid-way through
performing “Love Is Blind,” off her latest album The Element of Freedom. The
tumble was especially scary, since the signer is five months pregnant with
her first child with fiancé Swizz Beatz.  The songstress and the baby
weren’t harmed. <WM>

T.I. GETS PRAISE FROM CELEBS FOR NEW ALBUM

T.I. couldn’t give away too many details about his upcoming King Uncaged
album, but the rapper spilled on what people are saying about it. Tip
explained:

“I’ve played records for people like Puff. I’ve played records for
my young homie Drake, Nicki Minaj. I’ve played records for Wale, I’ve played
records for so many different people. Everybody say man it just sounds so
much bigger than everything else that you’ve done. Every song they say, I

Kimmie stated, “She’s a friend of mine… I’m 90% sure that song is probably

DJ Khaled isn’t surprised by the success he’s experiencing from his smash
single, “All I Do Is Win” – in fact, he expected it. The hitmaker explained

I make music for the people. Like when you listen to my music, you in the
car enjoying it and you singing the song and you feel like that record was

M.I.A. WANTS TO PRODUCE FOR JAY-Z

Jay-Z appears on a remix of M.I.A.’s tune “XXXO” off her third studio album, and now M.I.A. says she has a perfect song for Jay-Z to include on his next album. She told MTV News that the tune was left off of her upcoming album at the last minute and that Hov would sound perfect on it.  M.I.A.’s third album hits stores this coming Tuesday. <AZ>

DRAKE DONATES 25-K TO JAMAICA

After recently shooting his “Find Your Love” video, Drake reportedly donated 25-thousand dollars to the Drake and Mavado Peace Center in Cassava Piece, Jamaica. The rapper told local newspaper, The Jamaica Star, “I just wanted to show back some love by helping out with Mavado’s project. It’s a very positive move and something I am very happy to be a part of.” Drizzy adds, “Education is the key to life so to be able to assist in that process is very fulfilling.” <WM>

ROSS TEAMS WITH DRAKE, CHRISETTE MICHELE

Rapper Rick Ross, along with Young Money superstar Drake and R&B singer
Chrisette Michele, have come together on a new track called “Aston Martin
Music.” Ross says it’s a “real street, edgy song” and will appear on his
Teflon Don album, which is set to be released on July 20th. Listen to this

FANTASIA TALKS “BITTERSWEET” & HIGH SCHOOL

Fantasia sat down with us to talk about her latest single, “Bittersweet.”
The former American Idol winner told us the song has a special place in her
heart.

“‘Bittersweet’ is a true story, and it’s what’s going on in my life
right now. And I think that a lot of people can relate to that. Not only
women. Men. When you don’t have that closure from a relationship, and, it’s just bitter sweet. You still have the things that they gave you. You’re goin back and you’re reminiscing. That means you didn’t leave the proper way.”

In related news, Fanny recently received her high school diploma. During out interview, the singer actually danced with excitement and revealed how good it feels to finally get her degree. CIARA CHANGES ALBUM RELEASE DATE

Ciara took to her Twitter account to announce new updates about her upcoming
album, titled Basic Instinct. Ci Ci wrote, “With the success of my single
‘Ride’, the video, everything, we’ve decided to put out my album earlier! We
want for you to have the music we’ve been working so hard on earlier!!” She
adds, “It’s time for [fans] to see [her] perform ‘Ride’! It’s time for us to
have fun baby!” Fans can now expect Basic Instinct to land on August 17th.
She will now go up against T.I.’s King Uncaged effort. <WM>

KEYSHIA COLE BEGINS RECORDING NEW ALBUM

SingersRoom.com reports Keyshia Cole is hard at work on her fourth studio
album. The “Trust” singer linked up with Tank for a slow ballad that could
potentially be a single. The R&B songbird’s upcoming effort will include
production contributions from The Runners, Kanye West and Missy Elliott. No
album title or release date is known at this time. <WM>

PRINCE DISSES THE INTERNET!

During an interview with the U-K’s Daily Mirror, Prince shared his feelings
on the internet. The pop icon believes that like most technology, the
internet is just a fad that will eventually become outdated. He stated, “The
internet’s completely over. I don’t see why I should give my new music to
iTunes or anyone else. They won’t pay me an advance for it and then they get
angry when they can’t get it.” With his 33rd album on the way, the musician
feels he doesn’t need digital retailers to succeed. <WM>

FAT JOE IS PROUD OF NEW KNICKS LINE-UP

Fat Joe is a big basketball fan. During the NBA finals, the rapper expressed
his concerns about the New York Knicks and what incoming players they’ll
get. Joe was the first to predict Amar’e Stoudemire coming to the Big Apple. Stoudemire will reportedly receive 100-million over the course of five years. Joey uploaded a Twitpic of himself celebrating with the player as well as Spike Lee and Chris Rock. <WM>

GAGA HAS TEN-MILLION FACEBOOK FANS

Lady Gaga has become the first living person to have more than ten-million
fans on Facebook.  According to PopCrunch.com, the “Bad Romance” singer beat
both President Barack Obama and actor Vin Diesel to the mark.  Michael
Jackson is the only person, dead or alive, who has more fans than Gaga. <ZS>

LADY GAGA WOULD “NEVER CHEAT”

According to SingersRoom.com, Lady Gaga is setting the record straight when
it comes to being in a relationship, stating that she would “never cheat” on
a boyfriend because of her “strong moral code.” Gaga, who is rumored to have
revived her romance with ex-boyfriend Matthew Williams, insists that
although she often portrays herself as a wild woman on the stage, she is
actually very committed when she is in a relationship.  <JC>

“As a performer I’m outrageous and wild, but as a person I have a very strong moral code.  I would never cheat on a man; I believe in honesty and integrity… Don’t be fooled by the way I look – underneath all this I know exactly who I am and what my boundaries are. They are all important to me.”
