LIL KIM OWES OVER A MILLION IN BACK TAXES!

According to TMZ, Lil Kim can’t seem to remember to pay her taxes on time. Apparently, the fem-cee failed to pay the government from 2002 to 2009 and owes a whopping one-million dollars in back taxes. Her rep has responded to the news by revealing Kim “hired professional attorneys to handle this matter.” Her rep added, “She, along with her team of legal experts, are working cooperatively and diligently with the IRS and federal authorities to amicably resolve the situation.”

KID CUDI REMOVES HIMSELF FROM TWITTER

Kid Cudi needs a break from Twitter. In case you missed it, the rapper wrote to his 389-thousand followers that he’s “going away for a while” from the social networking site. He said in his last message, “Since y’all won’t hear from me, I hope you all like the album when it comes out Feb 28th.” The rapper then added, “I really worked hard to do my best. Thank You.” It’s unknown why he’ll no longer tweet or if this is just temporary. In related news, after Cudi drops his new WZRD LP later this month. He’s set to begin recording another project immediately following the release.

In 2009, Kid Cudi deleted his official account and returned two years later.

RIHANNA WANTS TO REMIX “BIRTHDAY CAKE”

Rihanna recently announced on her Twitter account that she’s considering a remix for her newest single, “Birthday Cake.” She wrote, “Now here’s the trick question! #IF I put collaborator on it, who would u wanna see lick the icing off????? #CAKE.” As her fans responded with random suggestions, Ri Ri followed-up her original tweet with “I need somebody #DIRRRTY on my Birthday #CAKE ;) lol.” This seemed to be a subliminal call to Christina Aguilera’s hit single. Looks like we’ll have to wait and see.

JUDGE ORDERS THAT BOW WOW BE ARRESTED ON SIGHT

Poor Bow Wow. A Georgia judge has reportedly granted permission for the rapper to be arrested and held until he resolves a lawsuit from a Tennessee bus company. According to TMZ, Chad failed to pay 100-thousand for a tour bus he used back in 2009 and also did not respond to the suit. The news comes just a few weeks after we reported that the rap star still owes a significant amount of money in back taxes to the IRS.

His seventh solo album, Underrated, is due on March 13th.

JAZMINE SULLIVAN RETURNS TO STUDIO! 

R&B fans will be happy to know that Jazmine Sullivan has announced that she’s begun recording the follow-up to 2010’s Love Me Back. The singer, who previously said she needed a break from music to “figure out who I am…w/out a [mic], paper or pen,” recently tweeted that she was in the studio working on her new album. Jaz revealed that she was “writing a freak nasty song [with] pops my mom and two aunts… Lol. #uncomfortable.” We’ll keep you posted with further details on the status of her untitled disc.

BUSTA RHYMES CAN’T STAND FAKE RAPPERS

Busta Rhymes is slowly but surely readying his comeback album, which marks his first record since 2009’s Back on My B.S. The hip hop heavyweight recently told us that his biggest pet peeve in the industry is fake rappers. While he’s still crafting his upcoming project, E.L.E. DRAKE RESPONDS TO “MARVIN’S ROOM” LAWSUIT

We previously reported Drake is being sued for his latest single, “Marvin’s Room,” by his ex-girlfriend, Ericka Lee. While Lee claimed that the Young Money star excluded her from co-writer royalties for the smash single, Drizzy’s rep denies the allegations. A spokesperson for Drake told XXLMag.com, “This claim is entirely without merit and our client has not engaged in any wrongful conduct… [Lee] did not ask for any compensation. It was only after she retained a lawyer that there was a demand for payment.” Lee is actually the woman heard on the phone in the beginning of the track and she now wants a judge to declare her as a co-writer and award her an undisclosed amount in damages.

PRIVATE JET COMPANY DROPS LAWSUIT AGAINST JAY-Z

Do you remember when news broke that Jay-Z was being sued for allegedly failing to pay a six-figure bill for a private jet he used back in 2010? Well it looks like the lawsuit for the 137-thousand dollar luxury aircraft has been dropped. While it’s unknown if a settlement was reached, Hova was initially accused of not paying for the full 55 hours of flying time on the jet.

NICK CANNON SAYS HE’S 100 PERCENT BETTER!

After suffering from some health issues late last month, Nick Cannon made an appearance in Indianapolis to host the NBC’s pre-Super Bowl show. The 31-year-old was hospitalized for mild kidney failure, but maintains that he’s doing much better. In addition, Mariah Carey’s husband claims he has made plenty of changes to his lifestyle, including a much healthier diet. The entertainer told the Associated Press that the event was “a great place to get back and debut the healthy Nick.”

- This spring, Cannon will begin working with Lionsgate on his directorial debut.

MTV2’S HIP HOP CELEBRATION CONTINUES

MTV2 recently announced the next singles to be featured on MTV2 Presents: Yo! MTV Raps Classic Cuts. Hosted by Sway, the show will take a look at the major impact of tracks like “Straight Outta Compton” from California hip-hop group N.W.A., “O.P.P.” from East Coast trio Naughty by Nature, and Chicago native Common’s “I Used to Love H.E.R.” Fans can expect to hear from the legends themselves, as well as from other artists and insiders including Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller. MTV2 will continue the hip-hop celebration with Hottest MC’s in the Game VII, followed by Sucker Free Certified. Tune in on February 19th at 10 PM and join the party!

JAY-Z TO PERFORM AT CARNEGIE HALL

RapRadar.com reports Jay-Z has announced that he will be performing two shows inside New York City’s Carnegie Hall on February 6th and 7th. He wrote on his official blog, “It’s every artists dream to play a venue as legendary as Carnegie Hall. The fact that I can use the arts and my talent to benefit the education of the next generation of artists, entrepreneurs, and great thinkers makes for a legendary night. I’m proud to be a part of the continuing work of United Way of New York City and expanding the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation.” While few tickets are being sold privately today (12/12), the general public will be able to purchase passes on January 30th at 11 AM.

LIL KIM UPDATES FANS ON UPCOMING PROJECTS

Wanna know what Lil Kim has been up to lately? Aside from putting out random diss tracks against Nicki Minaj, the fem-cee is currently working on a college tour. According to Rap-Up.com, the rap diva is reportedly working with Timbaland, Rockwilder, and Wyclef Jean for the follow-up to 2005’s The Naked Truth. Fans can expect Kimmie to announce her new label deal at the beginning of 2012.

BG PLEADS GUILTY TO GUN CHARGES!

We recently confirmed that Nicki Minaj joined forces with Madonna on a record called “Give Me All Your Love.” While shooing the visual for the M.I.A.-assisted song, Nicki tweeted that she actually locked lips with Madge. She wrote on Twitter, “In the presence of greatness. MADONNA. OH MY f’ingggg Gahhhh!!!!! MADONNA jus kissed me!!!!! On the lips!!!!!!! It felt sooooo good. 50 CENT READIES WORKOUT BOOK

In addition to working on his upcoming album, 50 Cent has announced plans to write his first fitness book called Formula 50: A 6-Week Total Body Transformation Plan. According to a press release, Curtis said in a statement, “I had a strong desire to write this book because is very important to me to help people make positive changes and take charge of their overall health. FORMULA 50 is a radical six week mind-body transformation plan geared to help readers develop mental toughness to achieve optimum results while offering a nutrition component.” Its gonna be a while until you can get Formula 50 as it’s scheduled for release in January 2013 via Avery Books.

ROBIN THICKE’S PROJECTED ALBUM SALES

HitsDailyDouble.com has released the projected album sales for Robin Thicke’s latest album, Love After War. The disc, which only includes one guest feature from Lil Wayne, is on pace to sell somewhere between 30 to 35-thousand copies during its first week on the chart. Elsewhere, The Roots latest album, Undun, is estimated to also sell between 30 to 35-thousand units while T-Pain’s rEVOLVEr will more than likely only pull in 25 to 28-thousand. Slow sales week indeed.

E-40 TO DROP THREE ALBUMS ON SAME DAY

According to XXLMag.com, E-40 has decided to treat his fans by releasing three albums simultaneously on the same day next year. That’s right, the projects, The Block Brochure: Welcome to the Soil 1, The Block Brochure: Welcome to the Soil 2 and The Block Brochure: Welcome to the Soil 3, are scheduled to hit stores and iTunes in March 2012. Wondering how he’s able to pull this off? The rapper explained, “I have my own label, ain’t no liaison, no middle man. I have my own distribution. I’m not signed as no artist. I got a P&D deal which is a lovely situation.” There you have it.

WILL.I.AM JOINS U-K VERSION OF THE VOICE

Will.i.am will join the U-K version of The Voice. The Black Eyed Peas frontman will be a vocal coach on the U-K version of the show along with Jessie J, The Script’s Danny O’Donoghue and Tom Jones. The show will kick off in January.

THE ROOTS WORKING ON THEIR 13TH ALBUM

According to a press release issued by Def Jam, Young Jeezy’s upcoming album, Thug Motivation 103, will include two versions of a song called “I Do.” On one side, Jay-Z and Drake contribute guest vocals while Andre 3000 is featured on the other version. In addition, the first official single off TM103 is “Shake Life,” which will be released on Monday. Be sure to look out for the rapper’s long-awaited project when it lands on September 20th.

DJ Khaled is probably out celebrating the solid debut of his latest album, We The Best Forever. NAS GIVES BACK TO UNICEF ORGANIZATION

AllHipHop.com reports Nas is taking part in the “Month of Giving” along with other artists to help support children in Africa. He joins late Beatles member George Harrison and wife Olivia Harrison to give back to the UNICEF organization.

· UNICEF is immediately releasing one-million dollars for the relief effort to benefit more than two-million children who are malnourished and are at risk from death.

Her debut album, Frank, sold over 76-hundred copies and over seven-thousand were digital downloads. Over 95 percent of all Winehouse’s album sold in the wake of her death were downloaded digitally, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

PITBULL MAKES PEOPLE’S “SONGS OF SUMMER” LIST

DMX CAUGHT WITH DRUGS, REMAINS IN PRISON

This is sad. TMZ reports DMX will remain in prison after he was recently caught with drugs. The rapper, who was scheduled to be released today (7/13), also violated numerous rules inside Arizona’s Yuma State Prison, including failing or refusing a drug test, unauthorized smoking and disorderly conduct. X will now have to stay locked up for an additional week, possibly longer.

· He spent seven months inside for probation violation.

FOXXY BROWN’S MOONING CASE GETS DROPPED

Do you remember when Foxy Brown was arrested after she mooned her neighbor? Well, according to the New York Post, the fem-cee has been cleared of all charges after her accuser, Arlene Raymond, refused to testify. Apparently, Raymond wanted to drop the case and put the matter behind her.

· As previously reported, Brown originally pleaded not guilty to these charges, refusing to comment on the matter.

· If she were convicted of the charges, she could have seen up to seven years in jail.

LAURYN HILL PREGNANT AGAIN!

Looks like the rumors are true. Lauryn Hill recently announced during a concert at Chene Park in Detroit that she is pregnant. The bun in the oven marks the singer’s sixth child. The news comes just a few months after Hill hinted that she’s already begun recording the follow-up to The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.

According to the NYPost.com, Snoop Dogg is in talks with MTV and E! to produce the “hood version” of American Idol. As previously reported, Snoop revealed that he’d like to create a singing competition that focuses on finding “America’s hottest hood artists.” While details are sparse, the rap veteran is looking to have Jay-Z and Wiz Khalifa as judges and mentors on the upcoming series. No further details are known at this time.

KANYE, JAY-Z WATCH THE THRONE TRACKLIST LEAKS?

According to reports, the official tracklisting for Jay-Z and Kanye West’s forthcoming joint album, Watch The Throne, has surfaced. The 10-track disc will apparently include contributions from Hov’s wife, Beyonce and Bruno Mars. Interestingly enough, the lead single, “H.A.M,” is not listed on the tracklist. While the artists have yet to confirm the release date, there are whispers that the disc will be completed in July and a second offering will be issued very soon.

· In case you missed it, Kanye’s latest visual for “Monster” was released over the weekend. The song is lifted form Yeezy’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, which is out in stores now.

THE DREAM TO RELEASE A NEW ALBUM THIS FALL

According to his official Twitter page, The Dream is ready to record a new album. The hitmaker wrote that his forthcoming project will be tilted Love IV (Diary Of A Mad Man) and there will be a nine-minute long buzz track premiering later today (6/7). The disc shares the same release date as Mary J Blige’s My Life II, The Journey Continues. Be sure to get both albums when they land on September 20th.

DETAILS ON MONICA’S SECOND WEDDING CEREMONY

We all know Monica and her NBA husband, Shannon Brown, have already secretly exchanged vows back in January, but the couple are planning a second ceremony just for friends and family. The pair have reportedly sent out wedding invites to over 300 guests and are scheduled to say “I do” on Saturday, July 9th at an undisclosed location.

According to TMZ, Sean Kingston is making baby steps to recovery – literally! Following his jet ski accident in Miami over Memorial Day weekend and being sent to a trauma ward, the pop singer is now breathing on his own and walked for the first time Monday morning. His rep revealed, “Sean Kingston continues to be hospitalized at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. His condition has been upgraded from critical yet stable to serious.”

DR. DRE’S DETOX COMING OUT IN JULY?

 

A new release date for Dr Dre’s long-awaited album, Detox, has just been posted on HMV.com for fans to pre-order in the U-K. The disc will reportedly be available on July 26th. While some fans might roll their eyes to the news, we can only hope that this release date will stick.

BEYONCE RECORDS DELUXE VERSION FOR NEXT ALBUM

According to Billboard.com, there will be an exclusive version of Beyonce’s highly anticipated album, 4, released through Target. Its currently unknown how many additional songs the deluxe version will contain, but we’ve learned that Sony Music Entertainment plans to ship nearly one million copies to Target stores nationwide.

· So far, Bey has released three songs from the effort: “Run the World (Girls),” “1+1,” and “Best Thing I Never Had.”

MARY J BLIGE LEAKS NEW MATERIAL

If you head over to her official fansite, you’ll be able to hear a newly leaked song, “Miss Me With That,” recorded by Mary J. Blige. The ballad was produced by the legendary Harvey Mason Jr. and will appear on the singer’s upcoming album, My Life II, The Journey Continues, which arrives in stores and online on September 20th.

EMINEM TITLES JOINT EP WITH ROYCE DA 5’9”

Eminem and Royce da 5’9” have come up with a title for their upcoming joint EP. Slim Shady recently tweeted that they have decided to call their project Hell: The Sequel. The disc, which will include contributions from D12’s Mr. Porter, Mobb Deep’s Havoc, Bangladesh and DJ Khalil, will be available on June 14th.

MONICA TO GUEST STAR ON THE VOICE

According to CNN.com, Monica has reportedly been tapped to appear on NBC’s new voice competition, The Voice. The talented singer will not judge the contestants rather she will “offer words of wisdom and help to choose songs that best suit each singer’s vocal style.” It’s currently unknown when Mo’s episode will air but to be on the safe side, just tune in every Tuesday at 9 PM Eastern on NBC.

BIG SEAN ALMOST SIGNED TO SHADY RECORDS

Before Big Sean joined Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music label, the rap rookie was actually going to sign with Eminem’s Shady Records. The rapper explained to DealWithNoDeal.net that a radio station was hosting a rap battle that could result in a 10-thousand dollar prize and a deal with Slim Shady. Interestingly enough, Sean lost the competition but he would later go on to impress ‘Ye and ink a deal with the rap vet. Sean is now working on his debut album, Finally Famous, which will be available this summer.

· The disc includes contributions from Chris Brown and Pharrell Williams as well as production from No I.D. and Kanye West.

PLIES ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM

According to his official Twitter page, Plies has announced that his next studio album, Purple Heart, will be released later this year. In addition, the Florida rapper tweeted that the lead single off the project is “coming asap.” Plies’ last effort was 2010’s Goon Affiliated, which debuts at number five on the Billboard 200 chart.

JAY-Z WINS EMMY AWARD?

Yes you read the headline correctly. Jay-Z has reportedly won a Sports Emmy Award for Outstanding Music Composition/ Direction/ Lyrics for Hova’s rendition of “Run This Town.” The rap mogul performed the song during this year’s Super Bowl XLIV opener.

THE BLACK EYED PEAS PLANNING FREE CONCERT IN NYC

The Black Eyed Peas will perform a free concert in New York City’s Central Park on June 9th. The Peas’ Concert 4 NYC will benefit the Robin Hood Foundation, a charity targeting poverty in New York City. Although the show is free, concertgoers must have tickets to enter. J.LO BEING SUED BY EX

According to RadarOnline.com, Jennifer Lopez’s ex husband, Ojani Noa, is filing a lawsuit against the singer and actress, claiming the song “One Love” off her new album, Love?, is about him. According to an agreement between Noa and Lopez, negative references to Noa are prohibited. He states that J. Lo is in breach of the contract and will also be bringing a separate civil action over the song.

· Ojani Noa was Jennifer’s first husband and his business partner. They tied the knot on February 22nd, 1997 and divorced less than one year later in January of 1998.

NICOLE FROM PCD TO HOST X-FACTOR?

Some more info is slowly being revealed about Simon Cowell’s forthcoming American version of The X-Factor. As has been rumored, People.com is reporting Pussycat Dolls lead singer Nicole Scherzinger will indeed be the host of the show after she did such a good job as a guest judge on the British version of the program last summer. RICK ROSS APPLIES KANYE SECRET TO TEFLON DON

Rick Ross’ highly anticipated Teflon Don album is finally available. In
addition to teaming with Jay-Z, T.I., Drake and others, the Miami boss told
us that he learned a lot while recording songs in Hawaii with Kanye West.

“We actually was up having breakfast one morning and we was talking
and we both was telling each other, you know, just recording secrets and
things that, you know, artists usually wouldn’t usually share with each
other. One of the most credible things he said or really heard my whole
career was he actually told me and showed me how to hear sounds and colors.”

The rapper also revealed what it was like working with West.

“It was my first time there just to see how beautiful it was and
how serene it was and then just to walk into this orbit; I like to call it,
which Kanye creates his music in. I was just mesmerized, and it was what it
was, and I don’t wanna go to deep into it but it was an experience, man. And
we came up with a record by the name of “Live Fast Die Young”.”

ALICIA KEYS SPLITS FROM HER MANAGER

According to Billboard.com, Alicia Keys has parted ways with her longtime
manager, Jeff Robinson. The mom-to-be will still work with MBK Entertainment
and said that this decision that was “mutually agreed upon and amicable.”
Her manager for the last ten years explained in a statement, “This decision
will allow Alicia more control over all aspects of her career from singing

50 CENT MIGHT DELAY BLACK MAGIC ALBUM

MTV News reports 50 Cent is unsure if he’ll release Black Magic as his next
studio album. The European-inspired disc is said to include “different
genres and influences,” however the mogul told the Brazilian edition of
Rolling Stone, he’s already “started writing different material that
[doesn't] quite fit the concept” for Black Magic. 50 says he can’t wait to

apartment dedicated to Andre.” Drake explained, “I took a door off a barn

Post has learned the rapper’s widow, Icelene Jones, has discreetly sold the
rights to his last project for only ten-thousand dollars. ODB’s manager,
Jarred Weisfield, is not only upset the unreleased album was sold “for
peanuts,” but Jones apparently spent the money on herself. Weisfield
believes the disc could’ve potentially raked in millions for ODB’s children
from other women.  No word yet on if the people who bought the rights to the

TOO $HORT ADDRESSES RECENT ARREST

We previously reported Too $hort was arrested for an altercation with
security guards at a recent concert in Boise, Idaho. The incident occurred
after the rapper wasn’t allowed to bring “underage girls” backstage. The Bay
Area rapper told XXLMag.com the accusations were “untrue and exaggerated.”
He explained, “Due to my work with young people in Oakland I am extremely
outraged at the way I am being portrayed. The incident that night was
completely taken out of context and I have not and never will take advantage
of any woman that is underage. Never that!”  He is expected back in court on

LIL WAYNE OWES THE IRS

Lil’ Wayne owes Uncle Sam some money.  According to The Detroit News, the
Internal Revenue Service filed a 1.13-million dollar tax lien against the
rapper last month for money he owes in income taxes for 2004, 2005 and 2007.
This is the second time Weezy has had a tax lien filed against him – he was
also hit in 2008 for a debt of nearly a million dollars, which he later paid

Milian. UsMagazine.com confirms the producer was spotted romping with his
assistant, Melissa Santiago, on a beach in the Caribbean last week. He also
wasn’t wearing his wedding ring. Dream’s wife tweeted: “Whatever you
think…believe it” and “I’ve officially lost my appetite” after seeing the
images of her husband frolicking with someone else. The news comes just five
months after the couple gave birth to their first child together, a little
girl named Violet. <WM>

*       The Dream’s spokesperson released a statement to UsMagazine.com
confirming that the producer and Christina have split. The rep said, “Terius
‘The-Dream’ Nash is saddened to announce that his marriage to Christina
Milian was unsuccessful. The couple reached this decision in late 2009, but
decided to keep the news private in efforts to protect their baby daughter
Violet. They ask for consideration and respect for their family moving
forward.”

UPDATE ON LIL WAYNE’S UPCOMING EP

Over the weekend, we reported Lil Wayne is looking to release an EP on his
birthday called I’m Not a Human Being. The CEO of Young Money, Cortez
Bryant, recently told Vibe.com, the project will include all new Weezy
material to tide fans over until Wayne’s The Carter IV is completed. In
addition to not putting the EP in stores, Bryant states, “We’ not about to
roll out no three month set up. We just gonna put it out virally and maybe
package it up for Christmas. Give ‘em a hard copy later for fan
appreciation.” Fans can anticipate I’m Not a Human Being to drop on

*       According to MTV News, Lil Wayne is approximately halfway through
his yearlong sentence for weapons possession.  He isn’t due to be released
from Rikers Island until November at the earliest, however he may be
released even earlier on good behavior.

SNOOP TALKS DAUGHTER’S BATTLE WITH LUPUS

Snoop Dogg opened up to People magazine about his youngest daughter’s
struggle with lupus. The icon says he “felt helpless” when doctors couldn’t
explain why Cori was suffering from dramatic hair and weight loss. Snoop
added “she went downhill” before finally being diagnosis with lupus. The
hardcore rapper says the experience brought him closer to his wife, Shanté
Broadus. The emcee said that his child is “the toughest little thing I’ve
ever met… In the beginning lupus was winning. But now Cori is.”  <WM>

MONICA IS LUDACRIS’ COUSIN, TALKS STILL STANDING

After teaming with great producers like Jermaine Durpri and Missy Elliot,
Monica intentionally avoided having excessive collaborations on her Still
Standing album. She recently told us why Ludacris appears as the only
feature on the disc.

“Well not just because he’s my cousin, but also because my mom
actually married his uncle when I was about 10 so we grew up as cousins, I
don’t look at it as the whole step this-that because my step father is very
much like a father to me, were very close, and he knew what I meant when I
said ‘Still Standing,’ it didn’t have anything to do music, I was really
talkin about life.”

The singer says the title track was designed to inspire fans.

“I don’t ever want to be looked at as the victim, don’t pity me,
don’t feel sorry for me, if somebody somewhere else goin through exactly
what I’m going through too, ‘Still Standing’ says you can make it through
that.”

Still Standing is available now. Fans can expect the Chris Robinson-directed

FAN ATTACKS 50 CENT IN BRAZIL!

Things got a little crazy when G-Unit touched down to perform in Salvador,
Brazil last Friday. ThisIs50.com reports midway through “Ayo Technology,” 50
Cent was attacked by an over zealous fan. Security immediately tackled the

LABEL CONFIRMS NICKI MINAJ RELEASE DATE

Just days after Nicki Minaj tweeted that her debut album will arrive on
November 23rd, a rep for her label, Young Money/Cash Money, has confirmed
the date will stick. XXLMag.com reports her release date was intentionally
designed to fall two days before Thanksgiving, especially since Black Friday
marks the biggest shopping day of the year. Let the countdown officially

M.I.A SAYS NICKI MINAJ RUNS HIP HOP

According to Rap-Up.com, M.I.A. has nothing but kind words for Nicki Minaj.
The singer feels the rap newcomer “runs hip-hop” because “she works hard and
…she’s focused.” The “Paper Planes” singer added, “It’s been a while since
a female rapper has come up with that much… She’s got a really good work
ethic, and I get her.” The two artists joined together on the remix for a
song called “Teqkilla” from M.I.A’s upcoming album, /\/\/\Y/\ (Pron: Maya).

LIL KIM SAYS SHE’S STILL RELEVANT!

Lil’ Kim insists she’s still relevant in the music industry. The 35-year-old
rapper told LifeLounge.com she’ll never fade out because she’s “constantly
growing” and knows “how to reinvent myself, I know how to change with the
times.” The artist, who is currently beefing with newcomer Nicki Minaj, also
feels she’s “probably even more relevant than a lot of new people who come
into the industry.” It’s still not known when Kim will release the follow-up
to 2005′s The Naked Truth. <WM>

PHARRELL SCORES DESPICABLE ME

According to Variety, Universal’s 3D animated flick Despicable Me took the
top spot at the weekend box raking in over 60-million dollars. Last week, we

J. LO MAY GET HIT WITH 40-MILLION DOLLAR LAWSUIT?

As reported last week, Jennifer Lopez canceled a planned appearance at a
hotel in Cyprus due to reports that the appearance would make a political
statement in support of human rights abuse. Lopez’s management insists a
“full review of the relevant circumstances” resulted in her decision to
cancel, noting “Lopez would never knowingly support any state, country,
institution or regime that was associated with any form of human rights
abuse.”  However, according to ThatGrapeJuice.net, organizers plan to
proceed with a 35 to 40-million dollar lawsuit if Lopez does not show for
the July 24th gig.  July 24th also marks Lopez’s 41st birthday.  <JC>

GAGA TOPS LIST OF LA SHOWS!

Lady Gaga is the number one requested concert in Los Angeles, according to
StubHub.com.  The website compiled a list of the top five most-requested
tickets in the Los Angeles-metropolitan area.  Gaga tops the list, followed
by Muse, Kings of Leon, Justin Bieber and the Dave Matthews Band.  Lady Gaga
will perform two shows at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on August 11th
and 12th, while Bieber plays the Nokia Theater at L.A. Live on July 20th.
Kings of Leon played the Hollywood Bowl last night and head to the Verizon
Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine, California tomorrow night. The Dave
Matthews Band will take the stage at the Hollywood Bowl on August 23rd and
Muse goes to the Staples Center on September 25th and    <JC>

KATY PERRY TALKS SEX AND RELIGION

Katy Perry made it clear that she wasn’t the biggest fan of Lady Gaga’s
video for her song “Alejandro” because of the use of religious imagery, and
the pop star is going more in depth about her comments.  The “California
Gurls” singer told British magazine Star that she doesn’t care if it’s
Madonna or her fiancé talking, “If you put sexuality and religion in the
same bottle and try to shake it up, it’s not cool.” <ZS>

USHER SINGS IN CHINESE

According to the Associated Press, Usher sang in Chinese, briefly, during
his China debut concert Sunday night in Beijing.  Usher sang one of Asian
pop sensation Wang Lihong’s songs in Chinese, Wang told a joint press
conference Saturday night, and the two performed Usher’s current
chart-topper “OMG.” Usher’s is the first big foreign concert tour to perform
in China this year. Usher took to his Twitter account and wrote “Beijing
Love you – that was fun!”   Next month, he is releasing eight new songs on a
new disc called Versus.

WILL DRAKE’S DEBUT LIVE UP TO THE HYPE?

Today marks a big day for hip hop. Drake’s Thank Me Later has finally been
released. Despite an early leak, many believe the disc is destined for the
number one spot on the Billboard 200 chart. Bun B has high hopes for it:

“I think it’s going to be incredible. I know a lot of people are
anticipating it. I know he’s already done some pretty good pre-audits on it.
He’s doing a lot of great promotion on it, and, of course he’s making good
music which is always, you know, the main thing, is that the music that
people hear is good.”

EMINEM PUSHES UP RECOVERY!

Due the early leak and high demand, Eminem’s forthcoming Recovery album has
been pushed up. Interscope Records has announced the project will now arrive
on Monday, just one day earlier than it’s previous June 22nd launch date.
Vice Chairman of the label Steve Berman explained in a statement, “We
believe fans want to support their favorite artists by purchasing the real
album and not a leaked version.” He added, “At the same time, we realize
speed is of the essence when fans are so passionate about wanting to hear
new songs from such an enormously popular artist like Eminem.  Even by
releasing Recovery only a day earlier than previously announced, it makes a
difference to those fans–and doesn’t mess too much with our marketing,
promotion, publicity and sales plans for the debut of a truly great album.”
Led by the number one single “Not Afraid” on Billboard’s Hot 100, Slim
Shady’s seventh studio album will be out on Monday.

*       FACT: To date, Eminem has gone on to sell over 80-million albums
worldwide. The rapper has also received a total of 11 GRAMMY Awards.

*       Recovery includes guest appearances from Rihanna, Pink and Lil

Puff recently announced on Scott Mills’ BBC show that his Dirty Money disc
will be available on September 20th. It’s unknown what caused the push-back,
but fans will be able to see the mogul when he performs during the 2010 BET
Awards on June 27th. <WM>

RICK ROSS TO MAKE “THE ALBUM OF THE YEAR”

Rick Ross is speaking very highly of his upcoming album, Teflon Don. When
asked what fans should anticipate, the “Super Fly” rapper explained:

“Just expect the best album of the year, you know. I’m competing
for that number one spot. I’m making some of the hottest music and I think
it’s been reflected with everything that I’m releasing. So just get ready
for it, the end of July Teflon Don will be in stores, all new music and it’s
gonna be incredible.”

Alicia Keys sat down with MTV U-K to talk about expecting her first child

God.” The entertainer believes she has “an amazing mother – she is a best
friend to me. And [she] would like to be the same to [her] child.” In

NAS ALREADY WORKING ON SOLO ALBUM?

While promoting his joint Distant Relatives album with Damien Marely, Nas
spilled:

“We definitely have solo projects that they were both excited to
do. This is the thing we are on right now though; this is what we’re excited
about right now.”

NICKI MINAJ SUED OVER PINK LAMBORGHINI

Nicki Minaj is reportedly being sued for allegedly damaging the pink
Lamborghini used in her “Massive Attack” video. According to TMZ, in a suit
filed by Hollywood Exotic Car Rental, the fem-cee is also being accused of
failing to pay car rental fees. The car cost over 17-hundred dollars to rent
and needed 12-thousand dollars to repair damages once it was returned. In
the clip, Nicki rides with Kanye West’s girlfriend, Amber Rose, in the
middle of the desert. <WM>

KANYE JOINS JAY-Z ON STAGE

Kanye West is back.  The rapper joined Jay Z on stage for their song “Run
This Town” at the Isle of Wright Festival over the weekend in the U-K.

KID CUDI IS IN TROUBLE

Kid Cudi is in trouble.  According to the Associated Press, the rapper was
arrested in New York City on charges of criminal mischief and possession of
a controlled substance.  Cudi still managed to make his performance at
Bonnaroo in Manchester, Tennessee on Saturday, saying from the stage, “I
really wanted to be here tonight.”

TEEN CHOICE AWARDS MUSIC NOMINATIONS!

The nominations for the Teen Choice Awards have been announced.  Justin
Bieber, Jason Derulo, Drake, Adam Lambert and Usher are up for Choice Music:
Male Artist, while Miley Cyrus, Ke$ha, Lady Gaga, Shakira and Taylor Swift
have been nominated for Choice Music: Female Artist.  The Choice Music:
