B.O.B. TO OPEN FOR JAY-Z AND EMINEM

According to Billboard.com, B.o.B has landed a great opening gig. The
“Airplanes” rapper is expected to warm up the stage for the first two Jay-Z
and Eminem concerts at Comerica Park in Detroit. Bobby Ray’s manager
recently tweeted that he will be at the Tiger Stadium tonight getting the
crowd ready for the two of hip hop’s biggest rappers.

FANTASIA NUMBER TWO BILLBOARD 200 CHART

Fantasia managed to earn the highest charting debut of her career despite
her recent suicide attempt. The American Idol alumna’s third album, Back to
Me, debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 with sales surpassing
117-thousand copies. The singer recently told us why everyone will be able
to enjoy the disc in its entirety. Fans can expect the
second official single off the effort to be “I’m Doin’ Me” instead of the
previously confirmed song “Man of The House.”

KANYE TO DROP MOVIE WITH NEW ALBUM

MTV News reports Kanye West has filmed a movie in Prague to accompany his
upcoming album, Dark Twisted Fantasy. ‘Ye recently tweeted: “Been shooting
16 hour days. … I’m so excited. … It’s like a child’s delusions become
reality.” It’s still unknown what the flick is about.

YOUNG BUCK GOES BANKRUPT, SUING 50 CENT?

Young Buck recently filed for bankruptcy due to owing 300-thousand in back
taxes. The former G-Unit rapper is not only looking to get his finances in
order, but he’s looking to sue 50 Cent, G-Unit Records and ex-business
manager Bruce Seckendorf for breach of contract. His publicist told
XXLMag.com that “there is no lawsuit filed yet.” We’ll keep you posted.

BEYONCE STILL MANAGED BY HER FATHER

There have been conflicting reports suggesting that Beyonce and her
father/manager, Mathew Knowles, have ended their working relationship due to
personal issues. However, a rep from Music World Entertainment has released
the following statement, “Contrary to false rumors online, Beyoncé and her
manager Mathew Knowles unequivocally have had and continue to have a close
personal and business relationship. Mathew Knowles is the sole and exclusive
manager of Beyoncé.” There you have it.

T.I., RICK ROSS “PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE SWAG”

T.I and Rick Ross have recorded a new song together called “Pledge
Allegiance to the Swag,” which is included on the Limelight Exclusives 3

According to MTV News, Lauryn Hill has opened up about her highly
anticipated album. The reclusive singer, who hasn’t released a studio effort

adds that she “respects the different sounds that [she's] hearing” however

JAMIE FOXX ISN’T SURPRISED BY DRAKE’S SUCCESS

Drake’s debut album, Thank Me Later, has sold an additional 20-thousand
copies this week and currently sits at the number 18 spot on the Billboard
200 chart. The disc has sold over a million copies, but Jamie Foxx recently
told us that he always knew Drizzy was going to be an undeniable force in
hip hop. The rap star is scheduled to perform during
the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards on September 12th at 9 PM Eastern on MTV.

TREY SONGZ EXCITED TO RELEASE PPP

After releasing “Bottoms Up” and “Can’t Be Friends,” many fans might be
wondering what’s the vibe of Trey Songz upcoming album, Passion, Pain &
Pleasure. Similar to his previous effort Ready, the crooner explained how
the title really explains the direction of the project.
Tremaine’s Passion, Pain & Pleasure is due out September 14th.

KELLY PRICE EXPLAINS SUPER GROUP SPLIT

During an interview with SingersRoom.com, Kelly Price revealed what happened
to the Queen Project with Tamia and Deborah Cox.  The soulful singer
explained that even though “the entire album was recorded in two weeks,” the
group failed because “too many people involved and the end result was we
were unable to get it done in a time frame that would have allowed us to
work the record and tour properly.” She hopes they’ll get to “release it at
a later date with proper touring,” but Kelly is focused on dropping her
first album in five years very soon.

Don’t you hate it when you get a song stuck in your head and just can’t seem
to get rid of it?  Well now a new website has the remedy.  It’s called

IGGY, GAGA TO TAKE STAGE WITH YOKO IN L-A

We recently reported that following successful concerts in Brooklyn earlier

EMINEM GOES DOUBLE PLATINUM!

It didn’t take long for Eminem’s critically acclaimed Recovery album to
achieve double platinum status. In fact, Slim Shady’s disc, which includes
“Not Afraid” and “The Way You Lie” featuring Rihanna, sold well over
two-million copies in only two weeks. According to Nielsen SoundScan, Em
managed to sell an additional 132-thousand copies last week, which pushed
his grand total to 2.1-mil.

B.O.B EXCITED TO PERFORM AT THE 2010 MTV VMAs!

With his smash hit single “Nothing On You” featuring Bruno Mars and the
equally explosive follow-up “Airplanes” with Paramore’s Hayley Williams,
B.o.B deserves all the nominations he’s received for the 2010 MTV Video
Music Awards. The Grand Hustle artist is expected to perform during the big
show and he’s able to keep his cool by looking at his success in a very
humble way. B.o.B will take stage on Sunday, September 12th at 9 PM.

UPDATE ON RIHANNA’S NEXT ALBUM

Producer Alex Da Kid told JustJared.com that fans can expect Rihanna’s next
album to be “strong, fun, and sassy.” The hit-maker has already contributed
to Ri Ri’s follow-up to Rated R and added the disc has “a mixture of her two
sides. It’s commercial, but at the same time it’s got an edge to it-it has
substance.” In addition, people from the singer’s label are looking to
create a song that will have similar success to her duet on Eminem’s “Love
the Way You Lie” single.

KERI DROPS FIRST SINGLE OFF NO BOYS ALLOWED

After the success of her In A Perfect World debut, the pressure is on for
Keri Hilson. We caught up with the “Knock You Down” singer to find out the
status and direction of her sophomore album.

“I feel like this album honed in on what makes Keri special and
indifferent, and I think that it’s even more a lane for me, which is what I
wanted to accomplish for people to understand. It’s great, the comparison to
great people is awesome but this is who I am. So, I got to dive more into
that.”

According to an official press release, Miss Keri’s new album is titled No
Boys Allowed. The first single was produced by Timbaland and it’s called
“Breaking Point.”

METHOD MAN TO PRESS CHARGES?

According to TMZ, Method Man is looking to sue for being injured during his
performance at the Insane Clown Posse’s Gathering of Juggalos festival this
past weekend. An unidentified concertgoer threw a beer bottler at Meth,
which caused a laceration under his left eye. The rapper intends to file a
lawsuit because he doesn’t “condone throwing things at the talent while
they’re performing. It takes a lot of heart and balls to continue performing

RAEKWON TALKS POSSIBLE KANYE, BIEBER SONG

We recently reported Kanye West tweeted about wanting to collaborate with
Raekwon and Justin Bieber – who is currently the only artist ‘Ye is
following on Twitter. It looks like this highly unlikely partnership might
become a reality. The former Wu-Tang Clam member told XXLMag.com that “it’s
definitely gonna happen” adding that when talents merge together “it’s
something that’s gonna make the fans check it out.” Not only is Rae a fan of
both artists, but he explained, “For them to even just have a conversation
and just put my name in it, it feels good… we gon’ make a hit.”

LADY GAGA WANTS ANOTHER T.I. COLLAB

According to Rap-Up.com, Lady Gaga reached out to T.I., expressing that they
could “top” their recent collaboration together. Tip explained that right
now he’s unsure if their current duet will appear on King Uncaged or “if
that’s going to be one-upped or what not.” As of now, Kanye West is the only
confirmed guest feature on the T.I.’s highly anticipated disc – which will
hit stores later this fall.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY FAT JOE!

Today, Fat Joe turns 40 years old. The Bronx native can enjoy this
significant milestone knowing that he’s re-established himself in hip hop.
The rapper’s latest The Darkside: Vol 1 album recently received great
reviews after Joe experienced disappointing sales for Jealous Ones Still
Envy 2 (J.O.S.E. 2). He told us that he took his time recording the album
that many feel is arguably his best to date.  You can

SingersRoom.com reports a Miami federal judge granted Kanye West permission
to phone into a scheduled mediation session with Suge Knight, instead of

His lawyers explained that West would be out of the country for business.
Hopefully the upcoming meeting will resolve whether or not Kanye owes Knight
one-million dollars in damages for getting shot at 2005 party he hosted.

According to People.com, Fantasia Barrino’s boyfriend, Antwaun Cook, wants
everyone know that she had nothing to do with the demise of his marriage.
His lawyer, Nicole Sodoma, explained in a statement, “Antwaun would be
remiss not to address the criticism and judgment he has received. He knew
Fantasia Barrino but the failure of his marriage can in no way be blamed on
anyone except the two people that were a part of the union – Paula and

GAGA NEXT ALBUM MAY BE “SHOCKING”

Lady Gaga recently announced that she’s still working on her highly
anticipated next album.  Producer RedOne heard some of it already and said
that it’s going to be “shocking.”  The producer, who was behind Gaga’s
breakout hit “Just Dance,” told Billboard.com that he worked on two tracks
for the project and that it’s going to make people say, “Oh my God! We
didn’t expect this!”  RedOne also said that he encouraged the pop star to
work with other producers on the new record, but wouldn’t say exactly who.

Lady Gaga’s Monster Ball tour took her to California this week, and the pop
star decided to do a little sightseeing.  According to 9To5Mac.com, Gaga
stopped by Apple headquarters in Cupertino, California.  Dressed in typical
Gaga-gear, she posed for pictures and schmoozed with employees

KATY AND RUSSELL GET COUNSELING

Katy Perry and Russell Brand are set to get married in the coming months,
and it appears that the couple is going to a little counseling in
anticipation of their upcoming nuptials.  According to British paper the
Daily Mirror, Perry is worried that the fact that the two are always on the
road could lead to some problems, so they’ve been talking to a therapist for
an hour a day.

T.I. GUEST FEATURED ON KANYE’S NEW ALBUM

According to RapRadar.com, DJ Drama spilled the beans that T.I. will
definitely appear on Kanye West’s highly anticipated album, Good Ass Job.
Tip recently returned from traveling all the way to Hawaii to record in
studio with Ye. Further details surrounding the collaboration are sparse.

RIHANNA TO STAR IN UPCOMING ACTION FLICK!

According to Variety, Rihanna is gearing up for her first feature film. The
pop princess has reportedly signed on to appear in an action film called
Battleship. Alongside True Blood’s Alexander Skarsgard and Taylor Kitsch,
she will assist in attempting to save the planet from a “superior force.” Ri
Ri’s acting credentials include her recent SNL skit with Adam Samberg and
portraying herself in 2006′s Bring It On: All Or Nothing. Hancock’s Peter
Berg will direct the film, which is slated for a May 2012 release. <WM>

RIHANNA COULDN’T RESIST EMINEM COLLAB

If you listen closely, Eminem’s “Love The Way You Lie” single is all about
domestic violence…a topic that Rihanna felt compelled to be a part of. The
songbird told Access Hollywood she wanted to do the duet because “it’s
something that, you know, we’ve both experienced, on different sides,
different ends of the table.” Ri Ri stated Em “pretty much just broke down
the cycle of domestic violence and it’s something that people don’t have a
lot of insight on.” She added, “The lyrics were so deep, so beautiful and
intense. It’s something that I understood, something I connected with.” The
video for “Love The Way You Lie” will premiere this week. <WM>

DMX TO RETURN TO PRISON?

MTV News reports DMX has turned himself into Los Angeles authorities to
begin a 90 day sentence stemming from a 2002 driving infraction charge. The
rapper spoke with MTV before surrendering and stated he wants to “get that
over with. It’s one of the first steps in regaining everything I lost.” The
rapper adds his “relationship with God has gotten so much stronger. He’s
always had his hand on me…Now that I’m actually listening and being
obedient, life is so much better.” X was just released from Maricopa County
Jail in Phoenix three weeks ago. <WM>

TIME LINE OF DMX’S LEGAL ISSUES

In 1999, DMX was arrested but later cleared of charges for a stabbing during
his Hard Knock Life Tour in Boston, Massachusetts.

On October 11th, 1999, DMX was arrested for assaulting a police officer
while under the influence of drugs and alcohol. The officer needed 13
stitches in his head and DMX was sentenced to two months in prison.

In the summer of 1999, DMX, along with his wife, were arrested and charged
with animal cruelty and possession of drugs and weapons. DMX successfully
bargained his sentence down to probation, fines and community service.

In March of 2000, he was arrested for aggravated unlicensed operation of a
vehicle, speeding, driving without a license, failure to signal and
possession of marijuana in Cheektowaga, New York. He was sentenced to 15
days in jail and a 400 dollar fine.

In 2001, DMX was arrested again for driving without a license and possession
of marijuana. His appeal to reduce this sentence was denied and he was then
charged with assault for allegedly throwing objects at prison guards.

In 2002, he pled guilty to animal cruelty of having 13 neglected pit bulls
in his possession and also entered rehab to treat his addiction to drugs.

In June 2003, he was arrested for using inappropriate language during a
performance at St. Kitts and Nevis in the Caribbean. The country’s
Information Minister alleged that a contract had been signed by DMX stating
that the show would be without foul language on stage. DMX was released on
bail of 376 dollars.

In June 2004, he was arrested again at JFK Airport in New York on charges of
possession of cocaine, criminal impersonation, criminal possession of a
weapon, criminal mischief, and driving under the influence while claiming to
be a federal agent and attempting to carjack a vehicle. He was given a
conditional discharge on December 8th, 2004 but pled guilty on October 25th,
2005 to violating his parole.

On November 18th, 2005, DMX was sentenced to 70 days in jail for violating
his parole. He was released from jail early on December 30th, 2005 for good
behavior.

In May 2006, he was arrested at a London airport for causing a disturbance
after he refused to put his seat belt on. He was later released with a
warning.

 By December 31st, 2008, DMX had pleaded guilty to charges of drug
possession, theft and animal cruelty and was sentenced to 90 days.

On May 22nd, 2009, he entered a plea agreement in which he pleaded guilty to
attempted aggravated assault.

PAUL WALL UNFAZED BY POOR ALBUM SALES

Paul Wall isn’t stressing over the sub-par first week sales for his latest
album, Heart Of A Champion. The Houston native told BallerStatus.com that
he’s just “blessed to have another album come out.”  He added, “I’m blessed
to be able to do what I love to do: make music.” The rapper explained that
he’s “financially straight” and doesn’t have to “depend on the royalty
checks” to survive. In fact, he makes most of his money from touring “365
days a year” and his jewelry store. Paul’s LP debuted at number 58 on the
Billboard 200, with less than eight-thousand units sold. <WM>

COMMON TO APPEAR IN NEW AMC DRAMA

After recently starring opposite Queen Latifah in Just Wright, Common has
landed a new acting gig. The rapper will appear in the AMC network’s
forthcoming drama series Hell on Wheels. According to Deadline.com, he will
portray “a half black, half white, freed slave” working on the
Transcontinental Railroad. Common was chosen due to his ability to bring “a
layered intensity to a very complex role.” So far, he is the only actor

FAT JOE RECRUITS R KELLY ON THE DARKSIDE

Now that Fat Joe has finally released his latest album, The Darkside Vol 1,
he hopes fans will fall in love with one of his favorite songs on it. Here’s
what Joey told us:

“Gotta joint with R Kelly, it’s called ‘How Did We Get Here,’ which
is so amazing man, it’s just telling the tale of my life and just
everybody’s life in the hood, in the ghetto, a story of triumph.”

It seems that Christina Milian is handling her divorce from The Dream pretty
well. The signer was spotted with and tennis superstar Serena Williams at

Milian’s most recent tweets was about seeing Inception, which she described
as a “phenomenal movie” that “you must go see.” This comes just weeks after
news broke that her ex-husband filed for divorce nine days before she gave

While some might wonder what’s the current status of Cassie’s oft-delayed

IDOL EYES JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE

American Idol has some big changes in store for its tenth season.  The age
limit has been dropped to 15 and Simon Cowell will not be returning to his
famed judges’ seat.  According to The Hollywood Reporter, after two years
away, former executive producer Nigel Lythgoe is close to signing a deal to
return to the show.  THR is also reporting that Fuller is adding to the list
of new judge candidates, a wish list that includes singers Justin
Timberlake, Chris Issak, Elton John and Harry Connick, Jr.  Lythgoe left
Idol after the seventh season.  <JC>

LLOYD READIES KING OF HEARTS ALBUM

Lloyd took to his Twitter account to announce some great news. The “Girls
Around The World” singer is hard at work on a new album tentatively titled

album chart and has sold just over 200-thousand copies since its release six

Last Tuesday, Drake spilled the beans to Extra that he’s been working on new
material with Chris Brown. The “Fireworks” rapper revealed he “was actually
in the studio with Chris Brown for a little bit. Then I was studio hopping,
seeing where I can lend my hand since I’ve done mine.” It’s unknown if the
songs the artists worked on will appear on Brown’s follow-up to Graffiti. In

One year ago, in the wake of Michael Jackson’s death, the “King of Pop”
ruled with the top three selling albums in the U-S as Number Ones, The
Essential Michael Jackson and Thriller ranked at numbers one through three,
respectively.  This week, as the public commemorated the first anniversary
of his death on June 25th, a number of Jackson’s albums see gains on the
Billboard album chart.  According to Nielsen SoundScan figures, Jackson’s
Number Ones album rises 68 spots to number 42, Essential climbs 104 slots to
number 52 and Thriller re-enters the chart at number 79.   <JC>

WILL.I.AM‘S IPAD HELPS LOCATE STOLEN PROPERTY

Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am went on a hunt for justice after someone
broke into his Bentley last week.  Someone made off with over 10-thousand
dollars of the rapper’s jewelry and personal property – including a new iPad
- when they broke into will’s car, which was parked in the Hollywood Hills.
Will used his iPad’s built-in tracking system to locate the thief’s
whereabouts and then forwarded the info to police.  We’re told police
already got most of his stuff back and are very close to catching the crook,

CIARA ANNOUNCES NEW RELEASE DATE

Ciara announced the release date for her upcoming Basic Instinct album. The
“Ride” singer tweeted the disc will arrive this summer on August 24th. The
project will be executive produced by The Dream and Tricky Stewart.

Uncaged. The “Got My Back” emcee feels the effort could be considered one of

representation of the conclusion of an era. It’s the end of a period and the
beginning of another.”

The disc will be his first effort since being released from prison on
weapons possession charges. King Uncaged lands on August 17th. Fans will

Good news for Fat Joe! The rapper has just been cleared of all charges
relating to his alleged sexual assault case. The emcee was accused of
“inappropriately” touching an unidentified 33-year-old woman in his limo
after a concert.  Joe’s lawyer, Dawn Florio Esq, recently said in a
statement, “Making a false claim of a sexual nature in order to extort money
is one of the most horrific accusations because it not only tarnishes

Former convict Freeway Ricky Ross has filed a lawsuit against rapper William

now know how much the suit is for. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the
ex-con is seeking ten-million dollars and also wants to prevent the release
of the emcee’s upcoming Teflon Don album – which is slated to drop on July
20th. The drug king names Jay-Z, Def Jam and Universal Music Group in the

NE-YO DESCRIBES VIBE OF NEXT ALBUM

Ne-Yo has titled his upcoming fourth studio album Libra Scale. If you’re
wondering what to expect, the singer told us:

“The album, I did something a little different with the album this
time around. I wrote a short story and all the songs on the album are
inspired by this short story. So, when you see the first video and uh, the
videos will tell the story so when you see the first video it’ll make
perfect sense. ‘Beautiful Monster’ kind of represents the love interest
slash arch-nemesis character in the story.”

He also drew inspirations from his three previous projects.

“I kind of sat back and listened to all three of the albums and
figured out what worked and what didn’t and just kind of compiled songs that
made sense that way.”

TECH N9NE ARRESTED IN MISSOURI

According to the Kansas City Star, Tech N9ne was Wednesday night in Jackson
County, Missouri for an outstanding warrant from failing to appear in court!
The case stems from an original charge for posting up illegal banners.
Authorities discovered the rapper’s warrant after pulling him over in a
Ferrari F430 for speeding. The emcee spent less than a half hour in jail
before a 300 dollar bond was posted.  <WM>

T-PAINS SUED BY FORMER MAKING THE BAND STAR

SingersRoom.com reports T-Pain is facing a lawsuit from Making The Band
singer Sarah Stokes. The Auto-tune king allegedly failed to pay or give
credit to Stokes for writing a song called “What’s Wrong (Go Away)” – which
later appeared on Jennifer Hudson’s debut album. The reality star is seeking
co-author credits for the track, income generated from the song, lawyer’s

EMINEM’S PROJECTED ALBUM SALES!

Now that Drake’s Thank Me Later sales are in, a lot of people are wondering
what Eminem’s Recovery disc will do. According to HitsDailyDouble.com, Slim
Shady is on pace to debut with first-week sales of 590 to 615-thousand. If
these numbers are accurate, the rap legend will easily claim number one spot
on the Billboard 200 and score the highest sales of the year. Em’s last
project, Relapse, opened with 608-thousand copies sold in seven days. Next
Wednesday, we’ll see if the rapper can outdo himself. <WM>

Bun B can’t believe the one year anniversary of Michael Jackson’s death is

they know that he’s dead but I don’t think it really registers with us
because of how great he was and how alive he was and how much of what is

The band formed in 1987 under the name The Square Roots.

While telling us about the First Annual Kidult Youth Leadership Conference
this weekend, Pharrell Williams opened up about new music projects. The

“The N.E.R.D album is basically a sign of the times. One journalist

WILL GAGA’S TOUR INCLUDE HUMAN CORPSES?

In a story published earlier this week in British tabloid The Sun, the
newspaper reported that Lady Gaga has reached out to Gunther von Hagens, a
controversial anatomist who invented a technique for preserving cadavers
called plastination and is responsible for the popular traveling exhibition
Body Worlds.  The Sun quoted “a friend” of Gaga as saying “she is fascinated
by Gunther’s work and life…  and is keen to have some Body Worlds element
in one of her shows.”  The source went on to say that Gaga is aiming to
incorporate von Hagens’ work into her tour by the time it gets to Las Vegas,
which doesn’t happen until March of 2011. <JC>

*       STATEMENT: In a statement to MTV News on Wednesday, von Hagens said
he would “offer no comments on conversations that have already taken place
with the singer or her representatives,” but added that he “welcomes the

T.I. TO RETIRE AT 40 YEARS OLD?

T.I. told CNN’s T.J. Holmes that he doesn’t want to be a “40-year-old
rapper.” While Tip respects and admires Jay-Z for continuing to make music,
after a certain age, T.I. plans to call it quits. If given the option to
have Hova’s career or Will Smith’s career, the emcee would go with Smith
because “he gets to spend more time with family.” T.I. will still produce
and discover new talent, but don’t expect an album ten years from now. Come
this fall, Tip will turn 30 on September 25th. In related news, King Uncaged

KELIS OPENS UP ABOUT NAS, NEW BOYFRIEND

During an interview with PerezHilton.com, Kelis said she feels “it wasn’t

Republic hotspot called Forty/Forty Club. The nightclub infringed on Jay’s
popular 40/40 sports bars, which prompted the mogul to sue for five million
dollars. In addition to renaming the venue, Ortiz has agreed to stop from

If you follow Diddy on Twitter, you know that the mogul is all about

SNOOP BANNED FROM NETHERLANDS FESTIVAL

According to the BBC, Snoop Dogg was banned from performing at a free Dutch
concert in the Netherlands. Authorities reportedly asked organizers to
replace the rapper to ensure the “open and friendly character” of the
festival. After learning the news, Snoop’s rep released a statement that
read, “Snoop is a mainstay at music festivals all over the world and has
performed at all of these without incident.” Despite the ban, the rapper is
expected to perform in select cities in the Netherlands later this summer.

LADY GAGA CRASHES YANKEES LOCKER ROOM!

According to USA Today, Lady Gaga paid an unscheduled visit to the New York
Yankees locker room following a loss to the cross-town rival New York Mets
on Friday.  Gaga waltzed into the clubhouse wearing just a bikini bottom
with an open Yankees jersey and talked to a few players.  Yankees general
manager Brian Cashman said Gaga is welcome to the stadium anytime, but not
allowed in the clubhouse following a loss.  He said she was simply in the
wrong place at the wrong time.  Cashman added that no celebrities are
allowed in the clubhouse after a loss.  <JC>

KATY PERRY, SNOOP  NUMBER ONE ON POP CHART

Katy Perry completes the quickest ascent to the top of Billboard’s Pop Songs
radio airplay chart in more than five years, as “California Gurls” featuring
Snoop Dogg leaps four spots to number one in its sixth week. According to
Billboard, the song logs the fastest flight to the list’s top spot since
Gwen Stefani’s “Hollaback Girl” reached number one in six weeks back in
2005.  “California Gurls” is Perry’s third number one on the chart.  “Hot N
Cold” led for three weeks in 2008 and “Waking Up in Vegas” ruled for two
weeks last August.  “California Gurls” has spent the last two weeks at the
summit of the Billboard Hot 100 chart and has sold 1.4-million downloads,
according to Nielsen SoundScan.  Perry’s album, Teenage Dream, drops on
August 24th.

Today marks the birthday of the late Tupac Shakur. If the rapper were alive,
he’d be turning 39 years old. On September 13, 1996, the rap legend died
from internal bleeding stemming from a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas;
however his presence is still felt.  We will never forget the contributions Pac
made to hip hop, rest in peace.<WM>

 EMINEM EXPLAINS NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE

Emimen openly recalled his drug-related near death experience with CNN’s
Showbiz Tonight. After revealing that he was near “two hours” away from
dying, Slim Shady admits “it took awhile to admit [he] actually did have a
problem.” As far as being in denial, the rapper explained “the last thing
you want to do in hip-hop is admit that you’re weak. But if I didn’t admit I
was weak with this certain thing I was going to die.” In related news, Em’s

LADY GAGA CONFRONTS PERSON WITH CAMERA

Lady Gaga got caught making an obscene gesture at a baseball game last
weekend, and it seems as if that wasn’t the only incident that she had.
According to the New York Post, the pop star got mad at someone in a
restaurant for taking a picture of her, and a source says that Gaga “pushed
her security team out of the way to confront the shutterbug and demanded he
delete the photo.”  The person who took the pic obliged, and Gaga went back
to eating. <ZS>
