BEYONCE SIGNS ON FOR BET AWARDS
According to MTV.com, Beyonce has officially joined the list of performers for the 2011 BET Awards. In addition, Rick Ross, DJ Khaled and Ace Hood will also perform during the event. They join previously confirmed performers Mary J. Blige, Kelly Rowland, Trey Songz Drake, Lil Wayne, Chris Brown and Alicia Keys. Be sure to tune in on June 26th at 8 PM Eastern when the ceremony airs live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
· Comedian Kevin Hart is hosting the event.
· In addition, Cee Lo Green will make a “special appearance” at the show.
BEYONCE ANNOUNCES NEW PERFUME
During an interview with Elle magazine, Beyonce talked about unleashing a new fragrance called Pulse. The singer said of the upcoming line, “Pulse represents the woman I am on stage. When I think about excitement, it makes me think about my heart racing and a pulsating beat, it’s my stage persona.” The new scent comes two years after Bey launched her extremely successful Heat perfume.
· Bey said of Heat and her other perfume, Heat Rush that Heat is “very spicy and Southern. Heat Rush is more about the woman I am on my off time, when I’m on vacation.”
J. COLE LEAKS NEW SINGLE
According to his fansite, J. Cole has finally released the lead single off his upcoming debut album. On a record called “Workout,” the rapper sampled Kanye West’s “New Workout Plan” and Paula Abdul’s classic, “Straight Up.” The track is the first offering off the Roc Nation artist’s highly anticipated effort, which is due out later this year.
NAS EYES FALL RELEASE FOR NEXT LP
According to MTV News, Nas is spilling new information about his next studio album. The rapper revealed that he’s thinking of changing the tentative title, Life is Good, because people didn’t “understand” where he was coming from. Esco told MTV, “They kinda thought I was saying, ‘Let’s pop bottles, we’re rich, everything’s good.’ That’s not where I was coming from,” he said. “So there’s another title that came, that kind of fits a little better, and you might hear about that. There might be a change coming real soon.” In addition, the emcee is looking to drop the project in September.
TIMBERLAKE DOESN’T WANT TO WORK WITH JAY-Z?
During an interview with Vanity Fair, Justin Timberlake explained why he no longer has any interest on wanting to work with Jay-Z. After Hova turned down a feature for JT’s “FutureSex/LoveSounds,” the singer got tired of the rapper making empty promises. Justin stated, “Jay-Z has put out 11 albums, and I was talking about doing collaboration with him, and he said, ‘I can’t do it right now, but I’ll get you on the next album.’ I was like, ‘No, man, I don’t work like that.’” He added, “I won’t be putting an album out next year; these aren’t a dime a dozen to me.’”

· Timberlake recently recorded a duet with the rapper’s wife, Beyonce. The pair sang on “Til The End Of Time.”
GAME DROP NEW SINGLE “BOTTLES AND ROCKIN; J’S”

Fans can expect the cut to appear on the West Coast rapper’s long-awaited R.E.D. Album, which lands on August 23rd.

MAXWELL IS EXCITED FOR STORYTELLERS
MTV Radio got to experience Maxwell’s taped performance of Vh1 Storytellers in front of an intimate crowd in New York City and tonight, viewers at home will get to watch the crooner showcase some of his biggest hits. After all of these years of performing live, he recently he still gets nervous. Vh1 Storytellers: Maxwell premieres tonight (6/1) 11 PM Eastern.
· Maxwell said to the audience, “Storytellers has been around for 15 years, and it’s been 15 years since I put out my first album… You have this dream as a kid, and the next thing you know you’re at Vh1 Storytellers and the crowd is singing along to your songs. It’s a blessing.”
· The singer is currently working on the second installment of his BLACKsummers’ night trilogy.
RIHANNA TO ATTRACT TOURISM IN BARBADOS
Rihanna has signed a three year deal with the island of Barbados to become an official spokesman for her native country. The singer will reportedly promote tourism though a series of public appearances, concerts and an extensive advertising campaign which will launch this summer.
· The island of Barbados has a population of only a little less than 300-thousand people – making it 30 times smaller than the city of New York.
FRANK OCEAN ISSUES “NOVACANE” VIDEO
Everyone is buzzing about Frank Ocean’s latest single, “Novacane.” Fans can now check out the official Nabil-directed clip and look out for the Odd Future member to drop his forthcoming debut, Nostalgia Ultra, on July 26th.
· The singer reportedly wrote “I Miss You” on Beyoncé’s much-hyped album, 4.
· Frank has also logged studio time with Kanye West and Jay-Z for Watch the Throne.
NE-YO SPILLS ON NEXT ALBUM
During an interview with OK! Magazine, Ne-Yo revealed new details about the follow-up to last year’s Libra Scale. The singer plans to recruit a lot of talent on the disc and spilled that he “reached out to new friends, from Busta Rhymes to Drake, to Lil Wayne, to Chris [Brown].” The crooner added, “Don’t know exactly what will be on the album yet because we’re still in the process of putting it together.” While there is no release date for the disc, he promises that the material is “all about listening to the music and vibing out.”
50 CENT PUTS ALBUM ON HOLD
50 Cent vented his mounting frustrations with Interscope Records via his Twitter account. The mogul wrote that he “tried to be cool with [his] record company” but after having a meeting he feels like everyone is “moving in slow motion.” He added, “I’m sorry to announce I will not be releasing a new album this year if we don’t get on the same page.” 50 doesn’t want to drop a new project “without a plan the whole system is executing.” Making reference to Dr Dre’s long-awaited Detox LP, he joked that he’ll leak his next LP when he “feels like it.”
KID CUDI TALKS HOW TO MAKE IT IN AMERICA
Filming for the second season of HBO’s How To Make It In America is currently underway and Kid Cudi is excited to delve deeper into his role as “Domingo Brown.” The rapper recently told us what he loves most about his character this time around (See Related Cut #6). LIL MAMA TEAMS WITH SNOOP
According to Rap-Up.com, Lil Mama has recorded a new song called “NY NY LA LA” with the one and only Snoop Dogg. The fem-cee explained that the record is a re-worked version of “New York, New York” to “represent East and West Coast and all of America.” The America’s Best Dance Crew judge said that “Snoop is like family. He really embraced me. That’s my guy right there. It’s always a pleasure and he’s really busy, as far as music is concerned, so for him to take the time out to work with me on my record was an absolute pleasure.” The song is scheduled to be released in the coming days.

LIL MO TALKS P.S. I LOVE ME
SingersRoom.com reports Lil Mo recently finished her comeback album, P.S. I Love Me. She told the site that the project is much different than anything she has done in the past because the disc will include far less from other artists and will instead focus more on Mo herself. Fans can expect her project to drop later this summer.
· This will be Lil Mo’s first album in four years.

JT LIKES GAGA
Lady Gaga has a fan in Justin Timberlake. In an interview with Playboy, the singer/actor said that she’s a “force,” “beyond awesome” and “legitimately talented.” Interestingly, he also added that he’d like to see her come out with an album a few years from now that sounds “completely different,” maybe a little bit like “Tori Amos.”
· The two recently performed on an episode of Saturday Night Live together, even appearing in a digital short titled “3-Way (The Golden Rule).”
CHRISTINA AGUILERA ON THE JULY ISSUE OF W MAGAZINE
Christina Aguilera appears on the July cover of W magazine, where her tell-all interview gives narrative to the ups and downs of her recovering career. She talks about her recent divorce, her much-discussed botched lyrics while singing the “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the Super Bowl in February and she attributes her comeback to her role as a coach on NBC’s The Voice.
