Missy Elliott “Works” Her Disappearing Act

Written by Rosario Harper

Hip-hop icon Missy Elliott has explained why her abscence from rap’s spotlight has worked in her favor as of late.

“People always be like, ‘Where [you] been?’ but you gotta remember, I got Jazmine Sullivan out there, I had Monica ‘Everything [To Me'],” Missy explained in an interview. “I’m always having artists that I’m doing records on so I’m just behind the scenes right now. I did the artist thing, now I’m just writing and producing…It’s been a long time coming but she gon’ be around for a long time. She’s gon’ make people have to step up they singing…Jazmine sing from the soul. She sing from a different place. She’s not just a singer, she sings from a place where you feel like she been through those things before. And she got a husky voice and we haven’t heard that really in R&B in a long time so she [has] a unique voice.” (MTV)

She is reportedly working on a new record called “Blow Ya Whistle.”

Lately, Missy E has been busy producing records for other artists, the latest one being Jazmine Sullivan’s ‘Holding U Down’ but here’s some good news for the fans. She will be finally returning to the scene with her brand new single called ‘Blow Ya Whistle’. Apparently, her album is still titled Block Party. (Hip Hop N More)

The rapper’s delayed album was initially scheduled to drop three years ago.

Block Party is the upcoming seventh studio album by American rapper Missy Elliott, scheduled to be released in 2010. The album’s release was initially intended for December of 2007, additional songs were recorded for the project in spring of 2009 replacing the majority of the album’s intended tracklisting. Last July, Elliott made headlines for being booted off stage during London’s annual Wireless Festival.

Missy Elliott was reportedly kicked off the stage at last weekend’s Wireless Festival after she exceeded her performance time slot. The rapper was said to have arrived 20 minutes late for her set at the gig in London’s Hyde Park but attempts to make up for her lateness with an extended performance were thwarted by the event’s organisers. Lloyd Banks Says Eminem “HFM2″ Collabo Delivers 1-2 Punch Written by Rosario Harper

G-Unit rapper Lloyd Banks is ecstatic over the bonus Hunger For More 2 Eminem feature, “Where I’m At”, believing it is one of the best songs he’s collaborated on with the Shady Records boss.

“Me and Em got a record, it’s called ‘Where I’m At,’” Banks revealed in an interview. “It’s crazy. Lyrically, it’s taking it to another place. I’ve had records with Em prior to this, or he’s been on my records and I’ve been on his album, this is a unique record. And it’s powerful. I think people are going to like it for a few different reasons because the subject matter is one thing and then the delivery. Just the fact of us going back and forth. It’s gonna be crazy — Em did his portion, he played it over the phone. He played me the verse over the phone, you really can’t risk sending things like that then anybody’ll have it.” (Rap-Up)

Last month, 50 Cent and Em pulled a prank on Banks claiming he allegedly said he did not want to do a feature with Slim Shady.

“Did you say something to somebody about you didn’t want him on the record,” 50 questioned Banks to which the rapper responded, “Why would I say that? To who?” “That’s what was being said from [Em's manager] Paul [Rosenberg]. Man, this sh*t is getting crazy. I’m gonna be straight up with you, all right? I think this sh*t is getting a little funny between me, you and [Tony] Yayo and everything else that’s going on because look at how crazy it is actually getting him to rap on your record and I don’t understand what’s going on anymore. I don’t know, when I talked to Paul, Paul pulled me to the side and he’s talking to me like, ‘Yo, what’s going on. Why you don’t want Em? Are you kidding me? He’s the biggest rapper, you can’t get any bigger.” (This Is 50)

Yesterday, Banks released the tracklisting to his new album.

1 Take ‘Em To War featuring Tony Yayo 2. Unexplainable featuring Styles P 3. Payback featuring 50 Cent 4. Home Sweet Home featuring Pusha T 5. Beamer, Benz or Bentley featuring Juelz Santana 6. So Forgetful featuring Ryan Leslie 7. Father Time 8. Start It Up featuring Kanye West, Ryan Leslie, Swizz Beatz and Fabolous 9. Celebrity featuring Akon 10. On The Double 11. Any Girl 12. I Don’t Deserve You 13. Sooner Or Later featuring Raekwon (Hunger For More 2)

A few weeks ago, Banks talked about lining up Kanye West and Swizz Beatz on his “Start It Up” single.

“The whole Kanye thing happened, it was shortly after the tweetthat he wrote, the comment he made about me being underrated and should be in everybody’s top five,” Banks told MTV News over the phone Thursday. “We read that statement, and it kind of took off on its own. I definitely appreciated that. Just for him to say that opens up the eyes that have been watching him [to me]. And from there, it made sense to go into the studio with him. Shortly after that, we went into the studio…That was one of the last joints I recorded for my album. Originally it was me and Fab, then I got Kanye, then Swizz was in the city and so was Ryan [Leslie]. The difference from that track being me and Fab and having Kanye was 24 hours. I didn’t have it for a minute. We did it recently.” (MTV)

Hunger For More 2 is scheduled to drop Tuesday, November 23rd.

50 Cent Ends Silence On Chelsea Handler Date Written by Cyrus Langhorne

G-Unit leader 50 Cent has ended his silence on being caught having a secret date with late night talk show host Chelsea Handler earlier this month.

According to 50, their hook-up was strictly business-related.

Fiddy finally ‘fesses up to hooking up with Chelsea Handler! OK, well, not hooking up. During a break from shooting a music video with Bobby V, 50 Cent admits excluively to E! News that while he and the Chelsea Lately host did get together in New Orleans, romance did not play a part. “We were actually just talking about a film project,” the rapper reveals to E! News. “I think she’s amazing.” So amazing, apparently, that he didn’t just send her some flowers following her VMAs hosting gig, but a whole room full of ‘em. Because, you know, that’s just what friends do. Anyway, whether they are dating or not, at least they’re doing a good job at keeping their stories straight. (E! Online)

Last week, Handler addressed being romantically linked to 50.

“I was with a bunch of friends in New Orleans, and he was one of the friends that was there. I was there for a show. Of course we were the only ones in the picture when there were 20 of us there. It made it look like there was something romantic happening…[We have] nothing romantic. Although I think he’s working on something. Every rapper who has been on the show is working on something with me. At some point I’m going to have to give in.” (Baltimore Sun)

Earlier this month, Handler briefly discussed their date on Twitter.

“Everyone, calm down. I met with mr. Cent about a potential project. There’s nothing to report yet, ill let you know if there is.,” Handler tweeted Wednesday (October 6). (Chelsea Handler’s Twitter)

A day prior, 50 Cent was questioned about his relationship with Handler by paparazzi.

With everyone talking about his new rumored romance, 50 Centtook refuge where everyone goes to avoid the spotlight — Mr. Chow in Bev Hills — and then dropped a huge clue about Chelsea Handler. As TMZ first reported, the two got reeeeeally up close and personal at a bar in New Orleans this weekend — but yesterday, when photogs asked about the hook-up, dude cracked a huge, mysterious smile. They’re totally together, right?? (TMZ)

Swizz Beatz, Cassidy Sued For $1.5 Million Over Hit 2007 Single

(AllHipHop News) Hip-Hop producer Swizz Beatz has been sued by a producer who claims he was cheated out of royalties for his work on Cassidy’s hit single “My Drink ‘N My 2 Step.”

In a lawsuit filed on October 18th, Antwann Frost claims that he helped created the drum and rhythmic pattern for Cassidy’s single, which has become a staple in clubs across the world.

Frost claims he created “all of the other original musical components that shaped and defined” “My Drink ‘N My 2 Step” in 2007, which spawned remixes by Kanye West, Chingy, Ne-Yo and others.

According to Frost, Swizz Beatz offered $5,000 and 5% of ownership of the song, according to TMZ.com.

Antwann Frost is seeking $1,500,000 in damages.
